Ellyn Mosbarger (nee Ellen Blodgett) was born on September 16, 1933, and grew up in Cambria, California, the only child of Charles Osgood Blodgett and Ida Mae Blodgett.
After graduating from San Luis Obispo High School, Ellyn attended Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri, from 1951-1953 and San Jose State University from 1953-1955, where she earned a Bachelor of Education degree.
In 1955, she married Dick Mosbarger. Together, they embarked on successful teaching careers and began raising a family in Fremont, California, where their first two children, Heidi and Eric, were born. The family moved to Dick’s hometown of Fillmore, California, in 1963 after he accepted a position as head of the Agriculture Program at Fillmore High School. Their third child, Dana, was born soon thereafter.
A devoted homemaker and teacher, Ellyn lent her artistic touch to Dick’s agriculture program, contributing to its visual displays and creative projects. She was active in local church programs, forming a youth singing group and leading craft projects. She also enjoyed designing and creating clothing for her children.
In 1976, she turned her passion for art into a full-time career, founding her own business, Calico Mouse, which offered appliqué kits for clothing, pillows, and wall art. Her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit took her to craft fairs across the country, where she gained recognition within the arts and crafts community.
Over time, her work evolved into quilt-making and eventually into “Wearable Art.” She converted the family living room into her art studio, stocked with bolts of fabric, beads, buttons, spools of thread, and state-of-the-art sewing machines. Her intricate, flowing, multi-piece garments won awards and admiration around the world. She also published numerous appliqué pattern books, inspiring others to design and create their own wearable art.
In early 2021, Dick and Ellyn moved from Fillmore to Bellingham, Washington, to be closer to their children.
She is survived by her three children, Heidi, Eric, and Dana, and two grandchildren, Treat and Zoey.
Ellyn will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, a devoted friend, a gifted artist, and an inspiring example of creativity, perseverance, and warmth.
Richard “Dick” Mosbarger passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, surrounded by family in Bellingham, Washington.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Ellyn Blodgett, whom he met in 1950 while attending Cal Poly. They formed a lifelong partnership after marrying in 1955.
He is survived by two sisters, Ann Scanlin of Ojai, CA, and Inez Ritchie of Napa, CA; three children, Heidi, Eric, and Dana, of the Pacific Northwest; grandchildren, Treat and Zoey; and loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of long-time friends.
He began his teaching career at Fremont High School, where he quickly earned a reputation as an exceptional educator and mentor. In time, he achieved his dream job as head of the Agriculture Department at Fillmore High School. He and Ellyn, along with their young children Heidi and Eric, returned to Fillmore, where they built a family home on Sespe Avenue and welcomed their third child, Dana.
While at Fillmore High, he built one of the most successful agriculture programs in the state. His students learned not only farming, welding, and mechanics but also leadership through the Future Farmers of America (FFA). Under his guidance, Fillmore’s FFA chapter earned top honors at Ferndale Field Day, Parliamentary Procedure competitions, and the Ventura County Fair.
In his fourth year of teaching at Fillmore High, he was selected by Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, to join the United States Overseas Mission to Thailand, where he and four other agricultural specialists spent two years teaching modern farming practices to future Thai college professors. Upon returning home, he established Fillmore High’s School Farm, converting part of a flood-damaged golf course into a working educational farm that became both self-sustaining and profitable.
He retired in 1989 after a distinguished career that inspired generations of students. He enjoyed his retirement traveling extensively with Ellyn and, while home, spending much of his free time golfing and visiting with friends and family.
In 2021, he and Ellyn relocated to Bellingham, Washington, to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Mr. Mosbarger will be remembered as an extraordinary teacher, husband, father, and mentor whose life embodied kindness and a deep commitment to his family and community.

Rosie Louise Mynatt passed away peacefully at her home in Santa Paula on May 2, 2025, following a brief illness. Louise, as she was known to many, was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on December 23, 1933, to Claud and Fay Lemons, and was one of ten children and the last of her siblings. In 1952 she married Billy L Mynatt and they settled in Fillmore to live while raising their 4 children. She and her husband were longtime residents of Fillmore until their retirement from Thatcher’s Glass Mfg., at which time they relocated to Oklahoma and then to Kingman Arizona. Upon Bill’s death in 2011 Lou moved back to Santa Paula to be close to her children, where she enjoyed seeing her many great grandchildren, her daily walks, the Senior Center Senior exercise classes, volunteering for the Santa Paula Food banks, finding treasures while enjoying the city yard sales and tending to her beautiful flower garden.
She will be forever missed by her serving children; daughter Chris Urrea; son Eric Mynatt (wife, Dee), grandchildren (10) and great-grandchildren (23). She was preceded brothers. in death by her daughter Donna Mynatt, son Kenny Mynatt; both parents, 5 sisters and 4 brothers.
Honoring his wishes, there will be a private family ceremony at Bardsdale Cemetery, Fillmore.
Jeannine Rae Thomas passed away in her Ventura home on May 18, 2025, at the age of 84. She was born on September 5, 1940, in Lyon County, Iowa. She grew up in Los Angeles and attended Franklin High School. There she met the love of her life and husband of 53 years, Darrell, with whom she is now reunited.
She worked as a loving housewife and mother of four children. She started and co-owned Towne & Country Fabrics in Fillmore for seven years with her lifelong friend Beverly Hurst. After her children left the house, she had more loving care to give to people, so she went to nursing school, and graduated at the top of her class. She worked as a medical-surgical nurse for more than two decades . After retiring from nursing she was a charitable, gentle and skilled healthcare resource for family, friends and neighbors.
She was actively involved in church as a deacon and in other roles, being a tireless resource for all manner of camps and Sunday school classes.
She traveled extensively with Darrell, but her favorite place seemed to be Rincon Beach. To her family, that will always be Mom’s Beach.
She was preceded in death by her adoring husband Darrell, and her parents Ralph and Esther Long.
She is survived by her children: Shel (Will), Mark (Stephenie), Daniel (Liz) and Eric (Kathleen); her grandchildren: Hannah, Andrew (Mary), Emily (Kyle), Seth, Kylee (Greg), Zane, Veronica and Eva; her great grandchildren Reese and Indie, Charlotte and Pearl; and her sisters Janyce and Marleen (Grant).
Her stalwart loving care for aging family members was unmatched. She was the final caregiver for her aging parents and in-laws. She also cared for her husband Darrell in his final years, giving us an example to follow in providing comfort and dignity to her as she exited this world.
The family would like to acknowledge the extraordinary and sacrificial loving care given by her daughter Shel for the last 6 years, and that of her grandson Andrew whose enthusiastic care for his grandmother brought her joy.
Details of a celebration of life service will be forthcoming.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her memory to the Ventura County Rescue Mission in Oxnard, CA.
