Jose Angel Serrano (October 1948 – April 2026)

Jose Angel Serrano, 77, passed away on the morning of Friday, April 17th at his home in Fillmore after a lengthy illness. He was born on October 21, 1948 in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico to the union of Nicolas and Isidra Serrano. He was the second of 11 children. He relocated to Tijuana, BC, Mexico at the age of 6, where he received his education. He came to the United States at the age of 15, attending high school in Torrance, Ca. He later moved to Camarillo, Ca where he met his wife of 53 years, 10 months and 21 days, Barbara. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. In 1972 he and Barbara A. Luna were married on May 27. They were blessed with two children, Michelle Yvette and Peter Nicholas. He resided in the Fillmore/Piru area for approximately 54 years and was well known for his generosity, kindness and the big heart he shared with countless family and friends. He attended Ventura College, later becoming a machine maintenance man, lastly working for Saticoy Lemon Association. Two of his favorite pastimes were putting puzzles together and framing them. Also making ceramics. On November 6, 2003, Jose suffered a devastating loss he was never able to overcome. His son, Peter Nicholas Serrano, was murdered at the family home. He was never able to overcome the depression caused by this tragic event.
Jose is survived by his wife, Barbara, daughter, Michelle Yvette, granddaughter, Sienna Penelope, grandson, Elias Maximilian, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, several nieces and nephews, God children, In-laws and countless extended family members and very special close friends. He is predeceased by his parents, 5 brothers, 1 sister and his precious son Peter Nicholas Serrano; and a number of very close friends.
Services are as follows: Viewing on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at Camino Del Sol Funeral Home, 200 N, C St., Oxnard, Ca. 93030. Mass on Friday, May 1, 2026, 9:00 AM at San Salvador Mission, 4041 Center St., Piru, Ca. 93040, with reception to follow directly after Mass in the church patio.
