Jane was born on February 17, 1957, to Ruby (Christiansen) and Leo Adair. She was born in Santa Paula, California and graduated from Santa Paula High School in 1975.
Jane began working for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department in 1981, as a patrol dispatcher before becoming the office manager of the Fillmore Substation in 1987. Many of the Fillmore area residents will remember her unique greeting when they called the station, “Fillmore Police, Jane.” Jane served the citizens of Ventura County and the Fillmore community for 41 years, retiring in Fillmore in March 2022.
Jane began her walk with Jesus Christ at an early age and it continued throughout her life, shaping her into a true woman of God. Jane loved her family, her church and her friends. Jane had the ability to make everyone feel valued and was able to make lifelong friendships with everyone she crossed paths with.
She was an avid sports fan, diligently watching her beloved Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Kings and the Las Vegas Raiders. While Jane became friends with every person who crossed her path, she also loved every animal that did so as well. While working at the Fillmore station, Jane always had a treat ready at her desk for every K-9 dog that came into the station. Jane could never turn away a stray dog or cat, oftentimes spoiling them just as much as she would her own children.
Jane is survived by her husband, Jim, and their blended family, Jason & Heidi Popp, Aaron Popp, Shannon Popp, Brittney and J.D. Ashe, Vincent & Alex Ferguson, Lynn and Kyle Preston. Jane also has 7 grandchildren, Hayven and Harper Popp, Oliver Ashe, Noah and Lily Ferguson, Michael and Valyree Preston. Jane is also survived by her two brothers, John and James Adair, as well as many cousins and extended family members across various states.
A memorial service is planned for Jane on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 11am, at the Ventura Missionary Church, located at 500 High Point Drive, in Ventura.
