
Victor F. Westerberg passed away on February 13, at the age of 78 years old after a long battle with major health issues.
He was a lifelong resident of Fillmore. Vic was born March 15, 1947, in Fillmore to Arthur and Shirley Westerberg.
Vic attended schools in Fillmore and graduated from Fillmore High School in 1965.
He was drafted into the Army and served a year in Vietnam with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. He rose to the rank of Sargeant on an Armored Cavalry Assault Vehicle during the 1968 TET Offensive and was decorated 6 times including the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and Bronze Star Medal.
He worked for Southern Pacific Milling Co. and retired after 30 years as plant manager.
He was a member of the Fillmore Search and Rescue Team for 20 years and a member of Fillmore Post 9637 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Vic always felt honored to participate in Veterans Day, Memorial Day, funeral honor guard services and helping other Veterans. Vic was named Co-Grand Marshal in the 2023 Veterans Day parade celebration.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Arthur and Shirley Westerberg and Sister Janet (Westerberg) Cadena.
He is survived by his loving wife Patricia of 47 years. How a guy from Fillmore CA met a gal from Detroit MI was a mystery to us.
Son David (Cathee) Grandson Kyle (Alicia) Great-Grandchildren Amelia and Gunnar, Brother Roger as well as many other family members and friends.
Graveside services will be held at Bardsdale Cemetery on March 31, 2026, at 11 a.m.
