STUDENT INFORMATION

1. RED RIBBON & HALLOWEEN ACTIVITIES Oct. 25-Oct. 29
• Mon. 10/25 – I-Pods during lunch
• Tues. 10/26 – Wear your favorite team jersey and participate in basketball during both lunches – Prizes awarded
• Wed. 10/27 – Wear Pajamas, slippers and bring a stuffed animal
• Thurs. 10/28 – Wear red, crazy hair & sunglasses and participate in a dart game during both lunches – Prizes awarded
• Fri. 10/29 – Halloween costume - dress like your favorite celebrity or wear your favorite Halloween costume. Masks are NOT allowed. Also, there will be a Red Ribbon Door Contest

2. SCHOOL RULES – Willful disobedience or disruption of school activities will result in an Administrative Detention or possible suspension.
3. REPORT CARDS were mailed on Wed. 10/20. If you have any questions about your grade you need to talk with your teacher. Any grade changes must be submitted in writing from your teacher to Mrs. Brock.

1. PRE-LUNCH ASSEBLIES TODAY to kick off the cheesecake fundraiser. First lunch assembly will take place starting at 11:10 a.m. and 2nd lunch assembly will take place at 12:00 noon in the pavilion.
2. SCHOOL RULES – Scholastic CrimeStoppers offers a reward of $50.00 if you provide information regarding a crime, drugs or weapons on campus. The student providing the information will remain anonymous. See our Principal Mr. Schweller or our Assistant Principal Mr. Carroll if you have information.

1. BULLDOGS – You will be receiving a CST goal setting sheet in your 3rd period class today. Please take the time to ask an adult on campus to help you fill out the form. Once the form is signed by your parents, you can return it to an adult on campus. Once you have turned in your sheet you will be entered into the weekly prize drawing. We will be giving out prizes every Friday for the next 4 weeks. Get your forms turned in as soon as possible.

2. SCHOOL RULES – Sexual Harassment/Sexual Battery – Federal and state laws make sexual harassment illegal. Some examples of sexual harassment are calling out obscene names, passing dirty notes, staring at a person’s body in a sexual way, purposely bumping into someone or standing in their way so they can’t pass, starting rumors about someone’s sexual orientation or behavior. Touching someone in a sexual way (pinching, touching or grabbing) is considered sexual battery and will result in the student being expelled from school.

Classes begin at 9:00 a.m.

STUDENT INFORMATION

1. SEPTEMBER STUDENTS OF THE MONTH – Congratulations to the following students who will receive a Carl’s Jr. coupon book! Grade 6: Vincent Lujan, Jazmine Romero, William Guess, Phillip Hernandez. Grade 7: Hannah Wishart, Estefany Tovar, Francisco Cruz, Ana Rincon, Griselda Avila, Rafael Regalado. Grade 8: Tabitha Tucker, Hai Tran, Donaldo Trinidad, Cynthia Perez, Jeanette Rodriguez, Paulo Valdez. You may pick up your coupon book in the front office.
2. SCHOOL RULES – Vandalism, graffiti or destruction of any school or personal property will result in a 3-5 day suspension.

4. YEARBOOK – Hey you, yes you! If you miss it, you’ll miss the best deal on your yearbook. There is not time to wait. There are only 200 yearbooks ordered this year and about 900 students on campus. If you want to guarantee you get a yearbook, you need to buy it now. Price is $45 which includes your name for free. That’s right, your name for free! See us at our lunch table during 2nd lunch or 1st lunch student can go to Miss Beal’s room, K-3. Get them fast while they last!
5. WRESTLING MATCH Wednesday, Oct. 6th starting at 5:30 p.m. in our gym. Come and cheer on our team!
6. WALK TO SCHOOL DAY is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 6th. We are encouraging our students (and parents) to school. When you arrive at school we will have fresh oranges available, some special outdoor activities (hula hoops, jump ropes), blood pressure testing, and music! Remember, that day is late start day. Classes begin at 9:00 a.m.
7. ONE MORE WEEK is left in this 1st quarter of school. Keep working hard and show your parents some awesome grades!
8. OCTOBER BREAK is the week of Oct. 11-18th. Students come back to school on Tuesday, Oct. 19th.
9. THE YOUTH ACT CLUB – Are you interested in helping our community, state and country? Do you want to help those in need and make a difference in our world? Then come join The Youth Act Club. Our first meeting will be in room D-2 during first lunch and room K-1 during second lunch on Monday, October 4th. Bring your lunch and a friend and yummy goodies will be handed out to all those who visit. Join The Youth Act Club and make your world a better place!
10. WASHINGTON DC RUMMAGE SALE takes place tomorrow from 8 a.m. until noon at the District Office on Sespe Avenue.
11. DO YOU HAVE AN INTEREST in becoming a reporter or newscaster? Why wait until you grow up? Scholastic News Magazine is currently seeking student reporters. Come to Mrs. Wohlers’ room, B-1, to work on your application. This opportunity is open to students in all grades including GATE, AVID or any student with an ambition to become a reporter. Meetings will be held all this week and next week, but you don’t have to attend every meeting. We will be working on the sample articles needed for the application. The deadline for this application is Oct. 12th.

Why They Were Selected

Hannah Wishart - Hannah is a positive, happy kid who always volunteers to help or contribute and answer. She is kind to others and a joy to teach.
Vincent Luhan - All around great student. Respectful, always on task, and does his work.
Tabitha Tucker - Tabitha is well-behaved and hard-working. She tries her best in everything. She is always pleasant, cheerful and respectful.
Estefany Tovar - Estefany is an outstanding student. She always goes beyond what I require in all her assignments. She is thorough, neat and always turns in her work on time. She works well in groups and enjoys helping other students.
Jazminne Romero - Jazminne always tries her best and is willing to help a classmate.
Francisco Cruz - He brightens my mornings by always greeting me with a smile. He is always one of the first students to offer help and pass out materials. In addition, Francisco has an excellent work ethic; this is evident in his current A+ in Language Arts.
Hai Tran - Hai competes, playing hard at all times, shows leadership skills and follows all procedures!
William Guess - A diligent, hard working student! Takes every assignment quite seriously, is extremely diligent in turning in work, scores high on assignments, and participates in class.
Ana Rincon - Ana is diligent, honorable, hardworking, helpful to others, and respectful of self and to others.
Donaldo Trinidad - He volunteers constantly, is very helpful and polite. He has a great attitude.
Phillip Hernandez - Phillip is always on task, is a hard worker, listens well, and helps others as needed.
Griselda Avila - She is a very hard working girl who excels at math and isn’t afraid to speak up for herself.
Cynthia Perez - Cynthia has a pleasant attitude and it is obvious she likes to be at school. She is always on task. She strives to complete assignments to show her learning, not just “get things done”.
Jeanette Rodriguez - Jeanette has been an amazing volunteer since the year began. She took on and completed an extra University project for AVID so that Mr. Schweller would also have one for Back-to-School Night, and organized a group of students to work the AVID nacho booth at BTSN to make money for our organization. She has shown excellent leadership and citizenship skills!
Rafael Regalado - He is a team player. He strives to excel on all his tests and class work. He is always smiling, and willing to answer questions in class.
Paulo Valdez - Paulo is a focused and respectful student. He is considerate to other students, and he is very helpful with questions from his peers.
