FMS DAILY BULLETIN Mission Statement: Together We Will… Think, Believe, Create and Achieve STUDENT INFORMATION 1. THE FILLMORE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD provides a process for complaints alleging discrimination of a program or a program’s failure to comply with state or federal law. The policy protects the privacy rights of the complainant and prohibits retaliation for filing a complaint. Complaints must be written on “Program Discrimination/Legal Violation Complaint Form” available from the Assistant Superintendent and filed within six months of the incident or when it became known. Help in filling out the form will be provided if needed. All other types of complaints, including complaints regarding personnel or instructional materials follow other board policies. The process for registering other complaints is: 1) if the complaint concerns a teacher, first contact the teacher. 2) if the complaints are not resolved by the teacher, contact the principal of the school, then the district superintendent, and finally the Board of Education. Complete copies of these policies are available through the superintendent’s office. PARENT INFORMATION 1. WELCOME TO ANOTHER SCHOOL YEAR! You are welcome to come to our school any time. Please be sure to sign in at the front office and get a visitors pass before going on campus. |

As she spoke the silence in the FMS gym was palpable. Eighth graders have been reading the Diary of Anne Frank in Language Arts and studying the Holocaust in their history classes. They sat mesmerized by actually hearing the history from a woman who lived it. As Clara explained, she was first made to live in the ghetto, an old brick factory with no restrooms. She was then transported to Auschwitz and later ended up in Riga concentration camp where she made gun powder for the German army. Luckily she lived through these trials with her mother at her side, Pepi Deutsch, who’s spirit led she and her daughter through the darkest times. From Riga she went to the Eastern front to dig anti-tank trenches. There she confronted a German soldier beating her mother.
