Fillmore 12U Boys Basketball traveled to Chatsworth to play in the California Classic Series. The team has only ever played recreational basketball and dared to play with 8 travel teams that play year-round basketball. The team made it to the championship game, but fell short by just 6 points, however they claimed a well-earned 2nd place title. On Sunday, March 8, runners toed the starting line along with 20,810 other competitors to run in the 41st rendition of the Los Angeles Marathon. The conditions were not ideal for the competitors having to manage hot, sunny, and windy conditions with very little shade.
Piru runner, Fabian Ochoa ran the 26.2-mile course in 3:36.16. Alejandro Garcia was next in 4:06.20, Blanca Becerra Mariel in 4:21.5, and Nadia Geisser in 6:05.14.
Fillmore runners also toed the line, with 7 participants. Chad Petuoglu led the group with a time of 3:26.56. He was followed by Jose Ibarra in 3:41.48, Eric Magana in 4:25.36, Katherine Lobao in 4:33.31, Nick Engelhart in 4:46.08, Sarah Topolsky in 5:33.10, and Sheena Dietz in 7:07.57.

The Fillmore Middle School Bulldogs wrestling team traveled to Nordhoff Junior High School in Ojai on Thursday, March 12, competing against seven other Ventura County squads that included Anacapa, Balboa, Cabrillo, De Anza, Isbell, Nordhoff, and Sinaloa. Competing for the Bulldogs were Francisco Avila, Cayden Balades, Parker Blackshear, John Cervantez, Kamila Cuesta, Miguel Joubert, Bryan Manzo, Albert Morales, Miguel Morales, Torrey Morales, Jesse Moten, Christopher Padilla, Liam Patton, Isaac Ramirez, Roque Rivera, and Valentin Sandoval.
β€œI’m proud of the effort the students put in every time they step on the mat,” said coach Michael Torres. β€œThey compete hard and represent Fillmore well, and I’m looking forward to seeing them continue to grow as the season goes on.” The Bulldogs return to action Thursday, March 19, when they travel to De Anza Middle School in Ventura for a 5:30 p.m. meet.

 

On March 12th, the Fillmore Track Teams hosted the Malibu Sharks. Fillmore won the first event of the day, the JV Girls 4 X 100-meter relay in a personal best time of 58.43. Team members were Alejandra Robles, Jessica Aparicio, Giselle Villareal, and Emma A. Ortiz. The Frosh/Spho Boys 4x100-meter relay was the second running event of the afternoon. The four athletesβ€”Domenic Corona, Draco Centurion, Nathan Lepe, and James Magana Jr.β€”posted a winning time of 48.27. The Varsity Girls won and set a personal best time of 51.77. Team members included Janessa Corona, Kimberly Magana, Jaiden Peacock, and Mia Munoz. The Varsity Boys won their race in an excellent 44.05. Team members were Jasiah Patterson, Saul Fraga-Sandoval, Joshua Felix, and Nathan Hernandez.
In the JV Girls 1600-meter run, Camila Soto placed first in (6:49.46). Christina Setty 2nd in 7:13.29, Gabriela Lopez (3rd in 7:25.80), and Mariana Elvira placed 4th in 7:27.58. Prince Kamradt captured 1st place in the Frosh/Spho Boys 1600 meters in a time of 6:09.18. In the Varsity Girls 1600-meters Melanie Flores placed (1st in 6:30.20). In the Varsity Boys 1600-meter run, Jordan Hernandez was Fillmore’s top finisher, (2nd in 5:21.35). He was followed by Nikolias Cerda 4th in 5:31.48, Gabriel Lagunas (5th in 6:26.08) and Ricardo Quilo (6th in 6:37.13).
Yaneli Landin finished 2nd in the Varsity Girls 100-meter hurdles in 19:59.
Giselle Villareal won the JV Girls 400 meter run in 73.49. She was followed by Jessica Aparicio 2nd in 76.02. Nathan Lepe won the Frosh/Spho Boys 400-meter run in a personal best time of 57.97. He was followed by Domenic Corona 2nd, also in a personal best time of 64.34. Jaiden Peacock won the Varsity Girls 400 meters in a personal best time of 67.25. She was followed by Delilah Lupercio 2nd in personal best time of 67.28, Barbara Soltero 3rd in a personal best time of 69.06, Andrea Gamez 4th in 1:13.64, Sarah Cedillos 5th in 1:15.15, and Michelle Setty 6th in 1:20.24. In the 400 meters Varsity Boys, Nathan Hernandez placed (1st in 53.46). He was followed by Joshua Felix 2nd in a personal best time of 57.14, and Orlando Vigil Tello (3rd in 58.70).
In the JV Girls 100-meter dash, Emma Ortiz took (1st in 15.09), She was followed by Alejandra Robles 2nd in 15.21. Draco Centurion was the F/S Boys 100-meter winner in 12.64. He was followed by Elijah Sandoval (2nd in 13.44), Nathan Lepe (3rd in 12.81), Domenic Corona (4th in 13.31), Jack Ignacio 3rd in 13.60, Francisco Ruiz Jr. 4th in 13.80, Nathaniel Tafoya (6th in 14.43), and Joseph Aguilar 7th in 14.70). Elijah and Jack ran personal best times. Kimberly Magana won the Varsity Girls 100 meters in 12.75. She was followed by Janessa Corona 2nd in 13.24, and Mia Munoz (3rd in 13.68). Saul Fraga-Sandoval won the Varsity Boys 100=meters in 11.23. He was followed by Abel Villela (2nd in a personal best time of 11.32), and Jasiah Patterson (3rd in 11.99).
In the JV Girls 800-meter run, Camila Soto placed (1st in 3:11.72), Gabriela Lopez followed (2nd in 3:22.15), Mariana Elvira (3rd in 3:22.71, and Christina Setty (4th in 3:33.64). Prince Kamradt finished 1st. in the Frosh/Spho Boys 800 meters in 2:52.58). Melanie Flores won the girls 800-meter run in 2:55.63. Andrea Gamez was 2nd for Fillmore in the 800-meters, finishing in 3:02.15. She was followed by Michelle Setty (3rd in 3:04.44). In the Varsity Boys 800-meter, Jordan Hernandez was Fillmore’s top finisher, 2nd in 2:29.17. He was followed by Gabriel Lagunas (4th in 2:48.80), and Nikolias Cerda 5th in 2:50.90).
Yaneli Landin won the Varsity Girls 300-meter hurdles in a time of 57.95.
Emma Ortiz won the JV Girls 200 meters in 31.92. She was followed by Giselle Villareal (2nd in 32.38), Jessica Aparicio was 3rd in 32.42, and Alejandra Robles 5th in 33.59. James Magana Jr. won the Frosh/Spho Boys 200-meter dash in a time of 24.79. He was followed by Draco Centurion (2nd in 25.30), Nathan Lepe finished 3rd in 26.35, Domenic Corona (4th in 27.16), Jack Ignacio (5th in 27.57), Elijah Sandoval (6th in 27.80), and Francisco Ruiz Jr. (7th in 28.22). James, Jack, and Elijah ran personal best times. Kimberly Magana won the Varsity Girls 200-meter dash in 28.52. Mia Munoz was 2nd in 29.11, and Barbara Soltero (3rd in 29.79). In the Varsity Boys 200-meter race, Nathan Hernandez finished (1st in 23.90), and Orlando Vigil Tello (4th in 25.18).
In the Varsity Girls 3200-meter race, Valeria Mendez Munoz finished (1st in 15:41.05). In the Varsity Boys 3200-meters, Ricardo Quilo placed 3rd and ran a personal best time of 14:30.09.,
In the JV Girls 4x400-meter relay, the team of Emma A. Ortiz, Jessica Aparicio, Giselle Villareal, and Alejandro Robles placed 1st in 5:28.85. This was a team personal best time. The Frosh/Spho Boys team of Jack Ignacio, Elijah Sandoval, Francisco Ruiz Jr., and Draco Centurion placed 1st in 4:39.94, a personal best team time. In the Varsity Girls 4x400-meter relay, Barbara Soltero, Jaiden Peacock, Delilah Lupercio, and Yaneli Landin placed 1st in a personal best time of 5:12.99.
In the JV Girls discus, Desiree Marrufo posted a throw of 68’ 06” to win this event. Teammate Liliana Patterson was (3rd in 60’ 01”), Teresa Rangel 4th in 56’ 02”, Nancy Anguiano (5th in 51’ 00”), Karla Bueno was (6th in 47’ 00”), Sophia Rivera (7th in 46’ 04”, and Jozelyn Ruiz (8th in 44’ 00”). In the Frosh/Spho Boys discus, Nathaniel Tafoya led all competitors with a personal best throw of 88’ 04”. He was followed by Joseph Aguilar, who also threw a personal best of (75’ 10”), Joshua Morales (3rd in 64’ 10”), and Elijah Prado (5th in 63’ 08”). In the Varsity Girls discus competition, Adrianna Deleon won the event with a throw of 100’ 02”. She was followed by Lucy Murrillo (2nd in 89’ 08”, Hermelinda Ocegueda (3rd in 88’ 01”), Emily Soltero (4th in 78” 01”), and Valerie Rodriguez (6th in 70’ 10”.”). Lucy had a personal best mark.
In the JV Girls shot put, Desiree Marrufo placed 1st in 25’ 06”. She was followed by Nancy Anguiano (2nd in 22’ 08” 04”), Jozelyn Ruiz (3rd in 21 08”), Teresa Rangel (4th in 21’ 00”), Sophia Rivera (5th in 20’ 10”), Lily Patterson (6th in 20’ 07”), and a Karla Bueno (7th place in 19’ 03”). Nancy, Jozelyn, and Teresa had personal best throws. Joseph Aguilar won the Frosh/Spho Boys shot put with a heave of 35’ 07”. He was followed by Elijah Prado (3rd in 33’ 03”), Joshua Morales (4th in 33’ 01”), and Nathaniel Tafoya. (5th in 32’ 06”). This was a personal best throw for Joshua. Hermelinda Ocegueda won the Varsity Girls shot put in 33’ 09”. She was followed by Emily Soltero (2nd in 29’ 01”), Adrianna Deleon (2nd in 29’ 01”), Lucy Murrillo (4th in 28’ 11”), and Valerie Rodriguez (5th in 23’ 09”). Hermelinda and Emily had personal best throws. Isaac Rivera placed 1st in the Varsity Boys shot put with a heave of 43’ 02”. This was a personal best mark for Isaac. He was followed by Isaiah Meza (2nd in 39’ 09”), Marcus Lechuga (3rd in 39’ 07”), and Emanuel Velazquez (4th in a personal best heave of 37’ 06”).
Nathan Lepe won the Frosh/Spho Boys high jump with a jump of 4’ 11”. Yaneli Landin was the winner in the Varsity Girls high jump with a leap of 4’ 6”, and Michelle Setty finished (5th in 3’ 10”). Isaiah Meza was also the winner of the Varsity Boys high jump, posting a mark of 5’ 4”.
In the Frosh/Spho Boys long jump, James Magana Jr. was 1st in 16’ 06”. Janessa Corona won the Varsity Girls long jump in 14’ 03”. Saul Fraga-Sandoval won the Varsity Boys long jump, posting a mark of 20’ 02.5”. He was followed by Jasiah Patterson (2nd in 18’ 02.25”.) and Joshua Felix (3rd in 18’ 02”). Joshua had a personal best jump.
James Magana Jr. was first in the Frosh/Spho Boys triple jump in 34’ 03”. Sarah Cedillos placed 1st in the Varsity Girls triple jump in 29’ 02.” She was followed by Delilah Lupercio 2nd in 26’ 04.” In the Varsity Boys triple jump, Jasiah Patterson was 1st with a leap of 36’ 04”.
In the team competition, Fillmore won the JV Girls, Frosh/Spho Boys, Varsity Girls, and Varsity Boys. On Saturday, March 21st, Fillmore will travel to the Maurice Green Invitational at Oaks Christian High School in Westlake. This meeting is set to start at 8:00 a.m.

The Frosh/Sopho Boys 4x100 meter relay was the first running event of the afternoon. In the Varsity Boys 1600-meter run, Jordan Hernandez was Fillmore’s top finisher, (7th in 5:19.45). He was followed by Gabriel Lagunas (8th in 6:16.78) and Ricardo Quilo (9th in 6:36.34). Christina Setty, Michelle Setty, Andrea Gamez, Nikolias Cerda, Jordan Hernandez, and Gabriel Lagunas ran personal best times.

He was followed by Orlando Vigil Tello (4th in 59.48). The JV Girls 800-meter run, Juliana Patterson placed (3rd in 3:09.88), Christina Setty (4th in 3:11.20), Gabriela Lopez (5th in 3:11.71), and Mariana Elvira was 6th (6th in 3:17.47. Nikolias Cerda finished 2nd in the F/S Boys 800 meters in 2:33.43). Andrea Gamez was the top Varsity Girl for Fillmore in the 800 meters, finishing (3rd in 2:51.63). She was followed by Michelle Setty (5th in 2:53.04), and Megan Robles (6th in 3:38.07). In the Varsity Boys 800-meter, Jordan Hernandez was Fillmore’s top finisher in 2:27.07. He was followed by Gabriel Lagunas (6th in 2:44.40), and: Ricardo Quilo (7th in 2:39.98). Christina Setty, Gabriela Lopez, Andrea Gamez, Michelle Setty, Nicholias Cerda, and Jordan Hernandez ran personal best times.

Jessica Aparicio won the JV Girls 200 meters in 31.98. She was followed by Giselle Villareal (4th in 32.40), Draco Centurion won the Frosh/Sopho Boys 200-meter dash in a new personal best of 24.70. He was followed by Nathan Lepe (2nd in 25.23), Domenic Corona (4th in 27.12), Elijah Sandoval (6th in 28.09), Jack Ignacio (9th in 28.76), and Francisco Ruiz Jr. (10th in 28.79). Kimberly Magana won the Varsity Girls 200-meter dash in 27.78. Mia Munoz was 3rd in 29.37 Sarah Cedillos was (5th in 29.80), Jaiden Peacock finished (4th in 29.82, Delilah Lupercio (7th in 30.32), and Barbara Soltero 8th in 30:92). In the Varsity Boys 200-meter race, Nathan Hernandez finished (1st in 23.91), and Orlando Vigil Tello was (3rd in 25.28). Jessica Aparicio, Kimberly Magana, Delilah Lupercio, Draco Centurion, and Elijah Sandoval ran personal best times.
Jordan Hernandez was Fillmore’s top finisher in the 3200-meter race. Jordan finished 5th in 11:43.50. In the Varsity Girls 3200-meter race, Melanie Flores finished (2nd in 13:31.74. In the JV Girls, Valeria Munoz Mendez placed 1st in 15:03.06). Melanie Flores, Nikolias Cerda, and Jordan Hernandez ran personal best times.
In the JV Girls 4x400 meter relay, the team of Emma A. Ortiz, Jessica Aparicio, Giselle Villareal, and Barbara Soltero placed 1st in 5:16.05. This was a team personal best time. The Frosh/Sopho Boys team of Domenic Corona, Nathan Lepe, Francisco Ruiz Jr., and Draco Centurion placed 1st in 4:10.14. In the Varsity Girls 4x400 meter relay, Barbara Soltero, Jaiden Peacock, Delilah Lupercio, and Yaneli Landin placed 2nd in 4:37.41. This was a team personal best time. The Varsity Boys team of Saul Fraga-Sandoval, Orlando Vigil Tello, Joshua Felix, and Nathan Hernandez won a nail-biter in 3:38.60. This was a team personal best time.
The JV Girls discus, Teresa Rangel, posted a throw of 64’10” to win this event. Teammate Karla Bueno was (3rd in 53’ 01”), Nancy Anguiano (4th in 37’ 9”), Sophia Rivera (5th in 43’ 07”, Liliana Patterson (6th in 43’ 05”), and Jozelyn Ruiz (6th In 43’ 05”). In the F/S Boys discus, Nathaniel Tafoya led all competitors with a throw of 84’ 5”. He was followed by Joseph Aguilar (74’ 04”), Elijah Prado (3rd in 65’ 01”), and Joshua Morales (5th in 58’ 11”), In the Varsity Girls discus competition, Adrianna Deleon won the event with a throw of 105’ 06”. Saul Fraga-Sandoval won the Varsity Boys long jump, posting a mark of 21’00”. He was followed by Jasiah Patterson (2nd in 18’ 00”.”) and Joshua Felix (3rd in 17’ 2”). Saul Fraga-Sandoval lept to a personal best time.
James Magana Jr. was first in the Frosh/Sopho Boys triple jump in 35’ 01”. Sarah Cedillos placed 1st in the Varsity Girls triple jump in 30’ 05.” In the Varsity Boys triple jump, Jasiah Patterson was 1st with a leap of 39’ 00”. James Magana Jr., and Jasiah Patterson had personal best jumps.
In the team competition, Fillmore won the JV Girls, F/S Boys, Varsity Girls, and Varsity Boys. On Thursday, March 12th, Fillmore will host the Malibu Sharks. This meet is set to start at 3:30 p.m.

The Fillmore Middle School Bulldogs Wrestling team traveled to Isbell Middle School in Santa Paula on Thursday, March 5th, to compete in the season-opening Ventura County Middle School Takedown Tournament, facing off against squads from Anacapa, Balboa, Cabrillo, De Anza, Isbell, Nordhoff, and Sinaloa middle schools. Representing the Bulldogs on the mat were Sundae Ambriz, Francisco Avila, Parker Blackshear, John Cervantez, Kamila Cuesta, Miguel Joubert, Bryan Manzo, Albert Morales, Miguel Morales, Torrey Morales, Jesse Moten, Christopher Padilla, Isaac Ramirez, Roque Rivera, and Valentin Sandoval.
The Bulldogs season continues with several upcoming meets. Fillmore will travel to Nordhoff High School in Ojai on Thursday, March 12th at 5:30 p.m., followed by a road trip to De Anza Middle School in Ventura on Thursday, March 19th at 5:30 p.m. The team then heads to Sinaloa Middle School in Simi Valley on Thursday, March 26th at 5:30 p.m., before closing out the season at Royal High School in Simi Valley on Friday, April 17th at 4:00 p.m. Bulldog fans are encouraged to come out and support the team as they continue their campaign on the mat.

On Friday, March 6, several Fillmore athletes traveled to Moorpark High School to compete in the Don Green Invitational.
In the JV shot put, Nathaniel Tafoya placed 44th in (33’ n08.25”). He was followed by Elijah Prado (45th in 33’ 08”) and Joseph Aguilar (54th in 32’ 07”).
In the JV girls shot put, Hermelinda Ocegueda placed (2nd in 31’ 09.5”). She was followed by Adrianna Deleon (4th in 30’ 09.75”), Lucy Murrillo (14th in 26’ 01.75”), Desiree Marrufo (25th in 23’ 07.25”),
In the JV boy’s discus, Nathaniel Tafoya finished in 29th place with a toss of 83’ 03”. He was followed by Joshua Morales (58’ 01”), Joseph Aguilar (59th in 54’ 01”.
In the JV girl’s discus, Adrianna Deleon placed (2nd in 90’ 11”). She was followed by Hermelinda Ocegueda (5th in 84’ 01”). Lucy Murrillo (13th in 71’ 10”), and Desiree Marrufo (32nd in 53’ 07”).
In the Varsity 1600 meters, Camila Rodriguez ran a strong race finishing in 2nd place overall in the Invitational Race. She improved her personal best time from 5:25.98 to 5:12.86.
Hermelinda Ocegueda and Adrianna Deleon were medal winners in both the JV Girls shot put and discus. Camila was medal winner in the Varsity Girls 1600-meter run.

On Saturday, March 7, current University of Northridge student, and former Fillmore Flash Omar Heredia contested an event for the first time, the Men’s 3000-meter steeplechase. Omar said that it was quite difficult after the 4th lap, yet he managed to finish 6th in 10:29.10.
Meanwhile, teammate, Diego Rodriguez, a Fillmore resident, and former Santa Paula Cardinal ran two distance events (not an easy task). Diego’s day began with the 1500-meter run, where he placed 23rd in 4:12.08, and the 3000-meter run, placed 7th in 900.7.
After Omar’s and Diego’s individual event they were members of a 4X400-meter team that finished 16th in 3:41.69.

Makhi Hooker, class of 2023, ran the 100-meter dash, placed 7th in 11.15, returned to run the 200-meters, placed 6th in 22.71. Angel Laureano, class of 2024, ran the 800-meters and placed 6th in 2:26.42.

On Saturday, February 21st, the Fillmore High School Track and Field teams competed at the Rincon Relays and Field Meet.
The first competitors on the day were in the JV Girls 1600-meter run. Top finisher for Fillmore was Camila Soto 3rd in 6:46.61. She was followed by Valeria Munoz Mendez 4th in 6:48.67, Mariana Elvira 5th in 7:10.95, Christina Setty 6th in 7:14.53. They were followed by FS Boys 1600 meters. Nikolias Cerda led this race for the Flashes. He finished 3rd in 5:39.37. He was followed by Prince Kamradt 4th in 5:59.76. The Varsity Girls were next on the line. In this race Camila Rodriguez of Fillmore won that race in a fine early season time of 5:29.91. She was followed by Michelle Setty 6th in 6:36.31. Andrea Gamez 7th in 6:50.0, Megan Robles 8th in 7:29.27. The final group of 1600 meter athletes, the Varsity Boys, were led by Ricardo Quilo 8th in 6:16.41, he was followed by Gabriel Lagunas 9th in 6:18.41.
Jessica Aparicio was the winner of the JV Girls 400; meter run in 1:14.21. This was a personal best time for Jessica. Orlando Vigil Tello won the F/S Boys 400 in 58.33.
In the Varsity Girls 100-meter run, Janessa Corona place 3rd in 13.37. In the Frosh/Soph Boys 100 meters, Draco Centurion led the Flashes, finishing in second with a personal best time of 12.17. Domenic Corona followed, placing 8th in 13.29. In the Varsity Boys 100-meters, Saul Fraga-Sandoval claimed first in a Rincon Relays in a meet record of 11.07. He was followed by Joshua Felix 3rd in 11.71, and Jasiah Patterson 6th in 11.91.
In the JV Girls 800-meter run, Camila Soto was Fillmore’s top finisher, placing 3rd in 3:05.11. She was followed by Mariana Elvira 4th in 3:18.6, and Christina Setty 5th in 3:21.54. In the Frosh/Soph Boys 800-meter run, Prince Kamradt led the Flashes with his 6th place finish in 2:44.21. He was followed by Nikolias Cerda 7th in 2:44.39. Camila Rodriguez led the Fillmore Varsity Girls 800-meter runners with her second-place finish in 2:37.26. She was followed by Andrea Gamez 4th in 3:01.99, Michelle Setty 5th in 3:04.98, and Megan Robles 6th in 3:33.31. The top runner for Fillmore in the Varsity Boys 800 was Ricardo Quilo 6th in 2:44.69, and Gabriel Lagunas was 7th in 2:51.98.
Delilah Lupercio was Fillmore’s top finisher in the JV Girls 200-meter sprint. She captured 5th place in 31.16. She was followed by Jessica Aparicio 8th in 32.35.
In the JV Girls 4 X 400-meter relay, Fillmore was second in a time of 5:24.47. Team members were Mariana Elvira, Camila Soto, Christina Setty, and Jessica Aparicio. In the Varsity Girls 4X 400-meter relay, the girls finished second in 4:56.05. Team members were Jaiden Peacock, Camila Rodriguez, Andrea Gamez, and Michele Setty.
In the JV Girls shot put, Sophia Rivera placed 2nd with a toss of 21’ 3.5”. She was followed by Desiree Marruffo 3rd in 20’ 09”, Karla Bueno 4th in 19’ 7.5”, Joselyn Ruiz 5th in 19’ 06”, Teresa Rangel 6th in 19’ 06”, Teresa Rangel 6th in 18’ 11”, and Lily Patterson 7th in 17’ 01”. Adrianna DeLeon won the Varsity Girls discus in 94’ 02”. She was followed by Hermelinda Ocegueda in 93’ 02”, Emily Soto 4th in 72’ 05”, Lucy Murrillo 5th in 65’ 05”, and Valerie Rodriguez 9th in 59’ 11”. Isaac Rivera won the Boys Varsity discus in 121’ 07”. He was followed by Isaiah Meza 2nd in 120’ 08”, Marcus Lechuga 6th in 111’ 08”, and Emanuel Velazquez 12th in 91’ 06”.

Delilah Lupercio won the JV Girls triple jump in a leap of 27’ 1.75”. Jasiah Patterson won the Varsity Boys triple jump in 36’ 6.75”.
Isaiah Meza won the Varsity Boys high jump with a jump of 5’ 0”.
The Fillmore track team will next host Nordhoff High School on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. The discus will have an early start time of 1:30 p.m.

On Sunday morning, February 22nd, several Fillmore-Piru community members took up the challenge of running the Ventura Β½ Marathon (13.1 miles), and some ran the full marathon (26.2) miles.
In the Β½ marathon, Fabian Del Villar was the top finisher from Fillmore in 1:33.37. He was followed by Matthew Munoz in 1:40.47. Angelica Herrera was the top Fillmore female runner in 1:48.25. She was followed by Rachele De Nicola in 2:08.48, and Emily Garibay in 2:20.37.
The top Β½ marathoner from Piru was Nicholas Hurtado in 1:29.59.
In the marathon, Francisco Bernardino was Fillmore’s top finisher in 3:26.08. He was followed by Eric Magana in 4:12.57, and Michael Groeneveld in 5:35.06. Fillmore alumni Eddie Farfan, class of 94 posted a personal best time in the Marathon of 2:58.07.

Former Flashes Run in Albuquerque
On Friday, February 13th, Camilo Torres, a track and field athlete for Cal State University of Northridge started his 2026 track and field season at the New Mexico Don Kirby Invitational. This meet is held at the Albuquerque Convention Center. In his first race back from battling shin splints, Camilo placed 11th in the 3000-meter race, in a respectable early season time of 8:45.77.

Garcia Runs the Ron Kamala Open
Angel Garcia, a former Fillmore Flash, and currently a student at Moorpark College had a busy day at the Ron Kamala Open. This track meet is run at the Hilmer Lodge Stadium on the Mt. San Antonio College track. Angel started his day by posting a time of 4:21.53 in the 1500 meters race, that was followed by running a 2:07.23 in the 800 meters, and his final event, as a member of Moorpark’s 3rd - 4 X 400-meter relay team was run in 3:43.02. Angel’s 800 meter was a personal best time for him, and his 1500 meter was a season best for him.

Adelanto, CA β€” Junior captain Naomi Bonilla punched her ticket to the CIF Southern Section Girls Wrestling Masters Meet with a fourth-place finish at the Northern Division Individual Championships, leading the Fillmore Flashes girls wrestling team through a competitive two-day tournament at Adelanto High School on Feb. 13-14.
Competing at 105 pounds in a 32-person bracket, Bonilla posted an impressive 6-2 record that included three pins, a dominant 10-0 major decision, and a pair of 3-0 decisions. Her fourth-place finish earned her one of eight coveted spots in each of 14 weight classes to advance to the Masters Meet at Sonora High School, which serves as the qualifier for the state championships in Bakersfield.
Seeded fifth entering the tournament, Bonilla improved on her sixth-place finish at last year’s CIF Southern Section Northern Championship. The two-time Citrus Coast League Champion and Lower Weight League MVP demonstrated her continued growth and consistency at the championship level.
β€œNaomi showed great leadership and composure throughout the tournament, she listened to our instruction and had a peak performance” said head coach Michael Torres, who guides the girls program alongside her father and assistant coach Jorge Bonilla.
The Flashes brought nine wrestlers to the Northern Division championships, with several athletes gaining valuable postseason experience. Freshmen made up a significant portion of the team, highlighting the program’s developing squad.
At 110 pounds, freshman Alani Alvarado finished 2-2, while fellow freshman Sofia Montelongo matched that record at 140 pounds. Senior co-captain Skyla Sandoval also went 2-2 at 135 pounds.
Senior co-captain Michelle Pinedo competed at 130 pounds and finished 1-2. Freshmen Aubree Herrera (115 pounds), Sophia Rivera (155 pounds), and Annabelle Olaguez (190 pounds) each went 0-2 but gained important championship experience in their CIF debuts. Senior Delilah Cervantez (120 pounds) concluded her high school career with an 0-2 performance.

The Fillmore AYSO 14U Boys All-Stars earned second place at the Area 10W All-Stars Tournament held in Camarillo, securing their advancement to the Section 10 weekend tournament in Bakersfield this month.
The organization extends its appreciation to Coach Bryan Ayala for his time and dedication in coaching the team.
The players are encouraged to continue working hard and represent Fillmore with pride and sportsmanship. The organization also thanks the families for their continued support and commitment.

On Saturday, February 7, two Fillmore athletes toed the start line of the Moorpark Groundhog Day 5K/1M. The course started and finished on the high school track. Both Damian Santa Rosa, a student at Fillmore High School, and his brother Jacob Santa Rosa, a student at Fillmore Middle School competed in the 5 Kilometer run (3.1 miles). Damian finished 8th overall in 17:35.52. Damian was the winner of the 12-15 age group division. Jacob finished 26th overall and was the second-place finisher in the 8-11 age group division in a time.

On Friday, the Moorpark College track team hosted a two-day event that kicked off their 2026 track and field season. The running events took place on Saturday and were run at Griffin Stadium. Angel Garcia, a former cross country and track standout at Fillmore High School competed in the Men’s 3000-kilometer run. This is a run of about seven and a half revolutions of the 400-meter oval. Angel’s personal best time in this event was at 9:35.19. On Saturday, Angel shattered his old personal record with a well-executed 9:20.5 second run.

On Saturday, January 31st, a group of Fillmore sprinters and middle-distance runners tested their preseason mettle at Simi Valley High School.
In the 60-meter dash, Janessa Corona clocked a fast 8.49 seconds. She was joined by Draco Centerian, who finished in 7.71, and Domenic Corona, who crossed the line in 8.29. All three athletes returned to the track for the 150-meter sprint, with Janessa posting a 20.86, Draco an 18.75, and Domenic a 19.94.
The middle-distance crew also showed mid-season form. Ethan Leighton (Saint Bonaventure High School) finished the 600-meter event in 1:32.16. This performance converts to a 2:07.18 for the 800-meter distance. Damian Santa Rosa competed in the 1500 meters, finishing in 4:32.18. His 1600-meter conversion stands at 4:52.24. Both Leighton and Santa Rosa achieved personal bests based on these converted marks. Damian doubled back in the 3000 meters to post a time of 9:57.16, and Ethan also ran a quick 300 meters in 40.22.
