Story by Michael Torres
May 27, 2026 — Two brothers, Dax and Devin Camacho, put on an outstanding performance at the Santa Maria Grappling X Coastal Jiu-Jitsu Championship Tournament. Dax Camacho competed in the Kids 8-Year-Old 60 lb. White Belt division, earning a silver medal in the Gi division with a 2-1 record — both wins by submission — before falling in the finals 2-5. In the No-Gi division, he went one better, taking home the gold medal with three dominant wins by points, outscoring his opponents 9-0, 5-0, and 10-0 in the finals. His older brother Devin Camacho stepped up in the highly competitive Adult White Belt No-Gi 165 lb. division and came home with a well-earned third-place bronze medal.
Both brothers train under Professor Michael Torres at Perce’s Kenpo Karate Studio, led by Sifu Paul Perce, a 9th Degree Black Belt in American Kenpo Karate. The studio offers classes for kids and adults in Karate, Kickboxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Call 805-524-6870 or email fillmorebjj@gmail.com for more information.
