May 9, 2026 —A group of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors from Fillmore who train at Perce’s Kenpo Karate Studio brought home an impressive haul of medals at the 2026 Grappling X West Coast Jiu-Jitsu Championships, held at Westlake High School. The athletes competed across multiple divisions and age groups, from youth to adult.
Diego Murillo claimed gold in the heavyweight blue belt intermediate division, while Emma Lopez took the top spot in the 160 lb. female blue belt intermediate division. Dayana Ramirez earned silver in the 120 lb. female blue belt intermediate division, and Matthew Ramirez rounded out the adult results with a bronze in the highly competitive 165 lb. purple belt advanced division.
The youth competitors were equally impressive. Amelia Andrade had a standout day, sweeping both the gi and no-gi divisions to claim double gold in the 7–8-year-old, 70 lb. female white belt division. Fellow young competitor Dax Camacho also competed in both formats, earning a bronze in gi and a silver in no-gi in the 60 lb. kids white belt division. Teen competitor Mateo De La Cruz showed well across two weight classes — 90 lb. and 115 lb. — in the yellow and orange belt divisions, capturing a silver and a bronze.
