STUDENT INFORMATION

1. HIGH SCHOOL PEP SQUAD – If you are an 8th grader and interested in trying out for the high school pep squad, please sign up on the clipboard at Mrs. Lemons’ desk at the high school front office. More information will follow regarding tryouts.
2. SCHOOL RULES – Fighting or encouraging a fight will result in a 3-5 day suspension.
3. PRIDE IN AMERICA DAY is coming up on May 27th. Please honor veterans you know by filling out the Wall of Honor certificates that your 6th period teacher give you. These certificates will be made into flags by Mrs. Wade and her classes. The certificates are due to Mrs. Wade by Wednesday, May 18.
4. 8th GRADERS – Remember, for the end of the year trip to the park you must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 for the year and no suspensions in the 4th quarter. Also, all library fines must be paid. See Mrs. DuBois for further information.

7. PENNIES FOR PATIENTS – For the next few weeks FMS will be participating in the “Pennies for Patients” program. Donate your loose change to your 6th period class and help save some lives. See Mr. Cummings for more information.
8. LIFETOUCH PICTURES – Students who received their promotion and/or Spring pictures need to return the pictures, money due, or a combination of both to the office. There is a large collection bin in the office. Please do not disturb the office as you return your picture envelopes.
9. RELAY IDOL – The Relay for Life program, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, is holding auditions on Saturday, May 21st at 3:00 p.m. in Central Park for local singers or groups. The winner will perform the National Anthem at the Relay for Life on September 17th, 2011 and also be part of the 24-hr. Fight Against Cancer. Pick up a flyer in the front office for further information on how to register to audition.
10. WALK-A-THON – Fillmore High School is sponsoring the second annual walk-a-thon on Wednesday, May 18th from 8:30-5:30 p.m. benefiting Make-A-Wish and Kids for Wish Kids Foundation. If you are interested in participating contact Principal Wilber at the high school.

2. PARENTING CLASSES in English and Spanish have started and will take place at FMS every Monday – English 4-6:30 p.m. and Spanish 6:30-9 p.m. in room
D-3.
3. PARENTS – SIGN UP FOR PARENT CONNECTION for Zangle. See your student’s grades, attendance, class assignments. Once you fill out the form turn it in to the school and your request will be processed. Once processed, you will receive your PIN number via email.

If you wish to get a physical from your own personal doctor, Patty will have the required paperwork as well. Once completed, ALL PHYSICALS are required to be returned to Patty in the Health Office.

CONGRATULATIONS to the following FMS students who competed in the Speech & Debate Tournament at Santa Paula High School: 7th grade: Josh Baez, Yisel Cruz, Ray Figueroa, Yulissa Fregoso. 8th Grade: Carina Alvarado, Viri Quintana, Adriana Zamora. The team excelled with 2 third places; 3 second places and 1 first place trophies. Viri Quintana will be competing in the State Speech competition on Saturday May 14 at Ventura High School. Great job to all the students who participated and to Coach Betzel – a pizza party to celebrate the achievements will be held for these students in Mrs. Betzel’s class this Friday during 2nd lunch.

Starts April 29th

Jumping rope is possibly the most beneficial exercise a person can do! The 6th graders at Fillmore Middle School are having a Jump-A-Thon on Friday, April 29th, after CST testing. Students are raising money through flat donations between now and April 29th. Money earned will go to new PE equipment such as: basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, and jump ropes; for our 6th grade students. 3. BRIDGES AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM would like to welcome all students who are interested in signing up to participate in the program. Students can pick up an application in the office or in room D-1 after school. The Bridges program is open daily from the end of the regular school day until 6 p.m. Each child that attends the program will get a snack to eat, help with homework, have computer access, get involved in arts and crafts activities and participate in sports. Parent have the option in signing up their child for the required three days or five full days during the regular school week.
