The Active Adult Center held their First Annual Health Fair on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Active Adult and Community Center. The Health Fair was a “One Stop Shop” for seniors. There were 48 vendors in attendance at the Health fair that provided senior services, programs, insurance information, medical and dental services, pharmacy information, food give away and much more. Over 140 senior attended the Health Fair, seniors could have their blood pressure checked, receive a diagnostic screening, mammogram, and heart screening, inquire about medical, life, and long term care insurance, hospice, Grey Law and Area Agency on Aging for additional senior services.

“The City is dedicated to all our active adults. The turnout far surpassed anything in the past. The quality and professionalism of the vendors was second to none. We hope to expand the program next year.” Annette Cardona, Community Services Director.

Valley Express was on site to pick up seniors and take them to and from the center. A Special “Thank You” to the Wellness Foundation, Valley Express, all of the vendors with their outreach and services they provided and everyone that attended, and for making the Health Fair a huge success.

“The Health Fair was an amazing success, with participation from over 48 health related businesses and over 140 citizens the fair truly expressed how out community is unified in healing one another. One vendor told me when she had gone to other health fairs in much larger communities the turnout was far less than our turnout. As a council member I have great pride in our community and this event is just one example of why. I would like to extend a sincere and heart felt Thank you!!! To all of those who participated and attended this event. I am looking forward to an even bigger event next year.” Doug Tucker, Mayor.

“The success of the Health Fair, grand opening and all the new programs proves the decision for the city to operate the center was correct and best for the active adults of our community.” Stated David Rowland, City Manager.
