Our Next Alzheimer’s & Dementia Caregiver Support Group will meet on September 17th. in the Senior Center Library from 9:00 – 10:30 A.M. We only had one person on September 10th. We will meet again on the 17th. Hopefully all of you that said “it was really important to have this support group” will come back. Our Floor Renovation is complete and our floors are beautiful again. We look forward to seeing everyone back at the Senior Center now that kids & grandkids are back in school & hopefully all vacationers have returned well rested. Although we had hoped to be open the full week, that is Monday through Friday starting September, we have decided to stay closed on Fridays till the first of October. All our classes are still available, Monday through Thursday. Remember you don’t have to be 60 to participate in the activities, we welcome 50 plus as long as it doesn’t prevent any of our older seniors from our classes due to, too many in a class. We had a really great turn out last time (August 13th.). I do a little care giving myself after I’ve finished here at the center so I can relate, to some degree, the difficulties that you deal with. I can imagine it is even harder when it is a friend or family member, day to day, hour to hour. That’s why I want to encourage and express how important it is for those giving care to be here regularly. The more you come, the more the Alzheimer’s Association will come and be here to help you get the most out of the support group. So, No excuses, see you on the 10th. The coffee is Hot & the Starbucks pastries are free… Mark your Calendars for Friday, October 5th. Hi-Cap will be here from 9-10:30 discussing what changes will be coming up with Medicare for 2013. and again on Oct. 19 as a “One-Stop” Helping you fill out form. The Fillmore Senior Center would like to thank all our supporters who have so generously donated their loose change to the senior center. The donations can be used to purchase coffee and office supplies for the center. Some of our printer cartridges alone can cost around $70 dollars each. We are also looking for an old fashioned, black & white, No Frills “Copy” Machine. Should someone, or a company have one they are not using any more, but is still in great working condition, we would be happy to pick it up. Two other items we are looking for are, a glass display case with lock, and a book case. Give please us a call 524-4533. FILLMORE SENIOR CENTER |
