I want to thank four Ventura College students, i.e., Marissa Carrillo, Arlene Lopez, Christina Lopez, Dennys Tapia and Fillmore volunteer seniors, Virginia Carrillo and Carolyn Laskey, for donating their valuable time and physical effort to prepare the garden project at the Fillmore Adult Activities Center recently. Marissa was the go-to person for project directions. She and the other students raised money to purchase fill-dirt, vegetable plants, flowers, and tools to cultivate the soil. Other men from the community came to assist with the work. Carolyn provided mulch, miracle grow and additional soil. She also shared advice and some lady-bug signs to beautify the garden. Thomas Torres helped to irrigate the garden. Their contributions of labor and material helped immensely to reduce one of the goals established for the exterior improvement of the AAC.

I hope that they enjoyed the volunteer experience ----- everyone seems to appreciate their dedication and efforts.

It is hoped that others may be counted on to help in future and similar beautification functions.
Sincerely,
Marie Garfio, Fillmore Active Adult Director
