Learning to ride a horse, like learning to swim, is one of those lifetime skills many children and adults have yet to master. According to experts at Goodenough Farms Horse Spa, safety around horses, like safety around water, is an important skill to have. It’s also a great way to enjoy the outdoors in Southern California and the beauty of the Ventura County countryside. |

Hospice Tours - The Rules
Saturday the Santa Clara Valley Hospice had their house tours in Santa Paula. My wife and I as volunteers sat at 1320 Fair Oaks Avenue! There is an exclamation mark because our sitting was a astonishing experience. Carlos and Heidi Juarez are the owners where we kept watch over the visitors in one of the cleanest garages I have ever seen. Carlos, who is with the Santa Paula Fire Department, had an exhibit in this garage of lunch boxes. He has been collecting these lunch boxes for over fifteen years. As the visitors looked at these well-displayed lunch boxes you could almost guess their ages by the one that was their lunch box when going to school. There was the Bee Gees lunch box, along with many favorite characters of the years of our century. The boxes were displayed on the wall of the garage in well arranged order. Also displayed was a picture of the Santa Paula Police Department from 1940 to 1980. Also there was a replica of the Santa Paula railroad station with its original paint. And to top it off, you were treated to a glass of home brewed wine if you wished. These house tours are done each year by the Santa Clara Valley Hospice group. The Santa Clara Valley Hospice service are available to residents in Santa Paula, Fillmore, Piru and Saticoy. These tours, each year, help maintain the services of the organization. Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it! Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself. Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both. Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss. Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity. Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them. Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room. Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life. Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time. Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs. Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one. If you agree, pass it on. If you can read this - Thank a teacher! |

We are planning a HUGE garage sale on May 10th 7am - 1pm at the district office on Making a little is better then making nothing. I know its Prom Night but this does end at 1pm and any one willing to donate your time to help out that day would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all in advance for your kind heart. |

Santa Paula, CA. April 29, 2008- Santa Clara Valley Bank (SCVBank; OTC BB: SCVE.OB) today announced its Board of Directors has authorized a repurchase of up to $220,000 of the company’s common stock. The company is authorized until October 17, 2008 to purchase from time to time in open market or privately negotiated transaction, depending on market conditions. “Our stock is currently trading at a significant discount and it has, we believe, little correlation to our recent financial performance, including 5 quarters without a loan charge-off”, said Michael D. Hause, president and CEO. “In addition to our history of rigorous underwriting and stringent credit quality standards, our bank continues to have little credit exposure.” Chairman Guy Cole stated, “The Board believes that it is in the best interests of the Bank and its shareholders for the Bank to reacquire shares of its Common Stock on the open market for several reasons, including the recent trading price of the Common Stock that the Board believes is undervalued and the Bank has sufficient cash available to effect repurchases without adversely affecting the Bank’s financial condition. In addition, the repurchases will have the effect of improving the Bank’s earnings per share and return on equity.” Founded in 1998, Santa Clara Valley Bank has offices in Santa Paula, Fillmore, and Valencia. Under its stock symbol of SCVE.OB, Santa Clara Valley Bank's stock is traded through McAdams Wright Ragen, Howe Barnes Hofer & Arnett, and Wedbush Morgan Securities. The Bank's web site is www.SCVBank.com. Santa Clara Valley Bank Corporate Headquarters Statements concerning future performance, developments or events concerning expectations for growth and market forecasts, and any other guidance on future periods, constitute forward looking statements that are subject to a number of risks and uncertainties. In 2007 this event raised over $50,000 and only with your support can we exceed our goal of rising $65,000 this year in funds for the homeless dogs in our Sanctuary & the Project Second Chance Adoption Program. This event will also be used as a vehicle to educate the community regarding the importance of responsible pet ownership. Our theme this year is – IT’S HIP TO SNIP, SPAY & NEUTER YOUR PET----- and responsible pet care. Following the dog walk, families will enjoy a lunch, pet demonstrations, pet contests, and adoptions with many Ventura area rescue groups. A Silent Auction with over 200 Items and over 40 pet related vender products. Admission is free--- this is the only event like this in the area! The Canine Adoption & Rescue League is a Ventura County based non-profit dog\puppy rescue and placement organization founded in 1996 and run almost entirely by volunteers. Funds raised from this event will help offset the many supplies, medical expenses, and obedience training for the animals and their care. Over 5,000 dogs and puppies have come through our program and have been given a second chance. Here is the who, what, where, when and why – please see below: |
