America is being radically transformed by the most divisive president in our nation's history.

Barack Obama's power grab is painfully clear. But what may be less apparent and even more damaging than this political assault is the cultural breakdown that accompanies this all-out attack on American institutions.

A culture is the crucible of a nation's achievements and its armor against adversarial threats. And our culture is under attack today. This can be seen in Obama's promotion of his friend Cornel West as a "genius" and an "oracle." Called "America's leading intellectual" by the radical press and by his colleagues in the academic world, Cornel West is in fact a charlatan and a mediocrity who expresses our cultural decline, not our culture.

That the President should single West out for praise shows his vision for the American future as surely as his attempt to destroy our health care system does. And that is why I have written a new booklet, Obama's Professor and America's Cultural Crisis - to show that we now stand at a crossroads where our very heritage - what gives us a sense of pride and meaning and is worth fighting for - is at stake.

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America' crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Relllys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

WASHINGTON, DC-- U.S. Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties) issued the following statement in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court decision today on Stevens vs. the United States.

The case involves Robert Stevens, who is appealed his conviction for violating a law Gallegly authored that criminalizes the interstate sale of depictions in which “a living animal is intentionally maimed, mutilated, tortured, wounded, or killed, if such conduct is illegal under Federal law or the law of the State in which the creation, sale, or possession takes place.”

The Supreme Court ruled 8-1 today to overturn Stevens’ conviction.

“Obviously, I’m disappointed. While I respect the Court’s decision, I do not believe justice is served when human beings are allowed to violently abuse animals,” Gallegly said.

“Violence is not a First Amendment issue; it is a law enforcement issue. From the beginning I have cited studies that show that the Jeffrey Dahmers of the world – the Albert ‘Boston Strangler’ DeSalvos, Ted Bundys, David ‘Son of Sam’ Berkowitzes and Ted ‘Unabomber’ Kaczynskis – began their killing sprees by cruelly inflicting pain on animals.

“You are not allowed to cry ‘fire’ in a theater; you are not allowed to possess or distribute child pornography. You shouldn’t be able to create and distribute videos that glorify the senseless killing of defenseless animals.

“My original bill passed the House in 1999 on a bipartisan vote of 372-42 and in the Senate by unanimous consent. For 10 years, it shut down the crush video industry. Congress will not allow it to resume to pre-1999 levels.

“I am reintroducing a bill I believe is more narrowly tailored to satisfy the Court’s majority and will stop the sale of videos that show the mutilation and torture of animals.”

This past Friday, President Barack Obama again threatened to veto any financial reform bill that fails to tightly regulate financial derivative products which many blame for the 2008 economic crisis. Derivatives work like insurance to protect certain investments, and provide stability to the price of most goods and services. For example, farmers buy derivatives on the price of their crops, so if the price of their crop plummets, the price of the food at the grocery store won’t change that much. Airlines buy derivatives on oil, so if the price of oil goes up drastically, they won’t have to immediately hike ticket prices.

PHOENIX — Favoring the constitutional right to bear arms over others' concerns about gun safety, Gov. Jan Brewer on Friday signed into law a bill making Arizona the third state allowing people to carry a concealed weapon without requiring a permit.

The measure takes effect 90 days after the current legislative session ends, which likely puts the effective date in July or August.

SACRAMENTO –Sen. George Runner (R- Antelope Valley) today announced that the California Senate passed his legislation known as “Blue Alert,” which would use the existing statewide Amber Alert notification system when a peace officer has been killed, seriously wounded or assaulted with a firearm and the suspect has fled the scene.

“The proposed Blue Alert would serve the same function as the highly successful Amber Alert – specifically, it would quickly and effectively get many pairs of eyes looking for a criminal who assaults a peace officer,” said Runner who also authored California’s Amber Alert in 2003.

“As the Amber Alert system has demonstrated time and again throughout the United States, a quick response is vital.”

Investigators could immediately broadcast information through the Emergency Broadcast System on television and radio and on the freeway signs to alert public.

Runner said while many crime categories declined in 2009, the murder of peace officers increased by more than 25 percent nationally.

“Part of this disturbing trend was the killing of 15 officers in just 5 incidents. In California, four officers were killed in Oakland and six in Seattle last year,” Runner added.

Blue Alert is supported by the California State Sheriffs’ Association, which represents all 58 California county sheriffs and several other statewide law enforcement agencies.

The bill passed on a 37-0 vote and moves to the Assembly in the coming days. If it passes the Assembly and gains the governor’s approval, California will be one of first states to implement the system statewide.

At the close of this week’s nuclear summit, President Barack Obama told a press conference: “Whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower, and when conflicts break out, one way or another we get pulled into them.”

Yesterday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) responded to these comments, calling President Obama’s remark a “direct contradiction to everything America believes in.” McCain went on to tell Fox News:

That’s one of the more incredible statements I’ve ever heard a president of the United States make in modern times. We are the dominant superpower, and we’re the greatest force for good in the history of this country, and I thank God every day that we are a dominant superpower.

SACRAMENTO – Sen. George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) today introduced two measures in the Senate Public Safety Committee – one that would protect our communities from parolees who have been released early from state prison, and the other making the job environment safer for peace officers. The former passed the committee, while the other was “held over” by the committee chairman on the basis that it will exacerbate the state’s prison crowding.

“I am pleased the GPS bill was approved – local law enforcement's hands are full with parolees who have been released from the purview of state Corrections and dumped into our communities,” Runner said. “This bill provides better safety for our families and neighborhoods.”

Senate Bill 1452 allows the local sheriff or police department to require parolees to wear an electronic monitoring device for the duration of their parole period.

The bill is in response to non-revocable parole, which became law (Senate Bill 18xxx) on Jan. 25, and allowed the state to begin the process of releasing thousands of inmates to the parole system without state Corrections support or supervision.

In recent months, I have hosted (along with some of my Conservative Legislative colleagues) several legislative hearings in Southern California on state government’s over-regulation of small business.

During these meetings I heard testimony from proprietors of a variety of companies – from restaurateurs and manufacturers to farmers and mechanics.

Each of these small business owners may wear different hats but they have one thing in common: They are feeling the pain and destruction of government’s eagerness to impose one regulation after the other. Over-regulation has made it near impossible (and unattractive) to run a business in the Golden State. AB 32 (the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006) is the king of all regulatory laws and it has not even hit its full stride yet.

Dear Friends:

In less than two weeks, thousands of Californians will convene at the State Capitol in Sacramento to protest the fiscal irresponsibility of state and federal government, and the egregious regulations brought on by AB 32- the Global Warming Solutions Act.

With the fury and fervor that defeated 2009’s Proposition 1A, Tea Partiers and other patriots will continue to demand that government live within its means and demand an end to AB 32 – a law so far reaching that it will dictate what we eat, what we drive and where we live and cause enormous increases to our energy bills.

It’s every parent’s worst spring break nightmare come true: Fun in the sun somehow turned into a south-of-the-border bloodbath for 21-year-old Zeke Rucker. The vacationing Rutgers University graduate was discovered alone outside his resort hotel in the wee hours of the morning of March 16, bleeding and unconscious by a swimming pool. His heartbroken and horrified family has questions. American and Mexican officials don’t have any answers — or any immediate interest in finding out what happened to Zeke.

Did he fall? Was he beaten? Did hotel staff witness anything? A resort security guard found Rucker at around 4 a.m. near some lounge chairs with his head “bashed in.” According to family members, the hotel has interior surveillance video showing Rucker “staggering” from his room. But there is no exterior video to shed light on what happened once he exited the hotel or when and how exactly he sustained his grave head injuries. His wallet and ID were left intact inside his hotel room.

I am honored to announce that I earned a 100 percent rating from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB)/California for my support of small business owners in California. The top score is the result of supporting or opposing a series of key bills that affected California’s small businesses.

The NFIB/California Voting Record was developed through the selection of 11 bills taken up by the State Legislature in 2009 that had a key impact on small business. I was one of just 12 State Senators to receive a perfect score of 100 percent.

Those bills included measures (which I supported) that reduced the bureaucratic regulatory burden on small business owners and increased opportunities for small business contracting. Also, there were measures that I opposed which enlarged taxes, increased workers' compensation premiums or expanded health care costs through increased state regulation.

These issues are of significant concern to small business owners in California. The State Legislature needs to focus on legislative efforts that promote small business and job creation.

The global system is undergoing profound change. Three powers — Germany, China and Iran — face challenges forcing them to refashion the way they interact with their regions and the world. We are exploring each of these three states in detail in three geopolitical weeklies, highlighting how STRATFOR’s assessments of these states are evolving. First we examined Germany. We now examine China.

U.S.-Chinese relations have become tenser in recent months, with the United States threatening to impose tariffs unless China agrees to revalue its currency and, ideally, allow it to become convertible like the yen or euro. China now follows Japan and Germany as one of the three major economies after the United States. Unlike the other two, it controls its currency’s value, allowing it to decrease the price of its exports and giving it an advantage not only over other exporters to the United States but also over domestic American manufacturers. The same is true in other regions that receive Chinese exports, such as Europe.

What Washington considered tolerable in a small developing economy is intolerable in one of the top five economies. The demand that Beijing raise the value of the yuan, however, poses dramatic challenges for the Chinese, as the ability to control their currency helps drive their exports. The issue is why China insists on controlling its currency, something embedded in the nature of the Chinese economy. A collision with the United States now seems inevitable. It is therefore important to understand the forces driving China, and it is time for STRATFOR to review its analysis of China.

Yesterday the Kremlin announced that the Obama administration and Russia had reached agreement on a new nuclear arms agreement intended to replace the 1991 Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START). The declaration appeared to surprise the White House, as Press Secretary Robert Gibbs could only confirm that the two sides were “close” to a treaty. But U.S. officials confirm that “all major obstacles” in negotiations with Moscow have been cleared.

Russian approval of a new START agreement has been the cornerstone of President Barack Obama’s “long road toward eliminating nuclear weapons” policy. President Obama’s desire to appease Russia is why he began negotiations by unilaterally surrendering to Kremlin demands that the United States betray our Czech Republic and Polish allies by going back on our promise to build ballistic missile defense facilities in Eastern Europe. Russians took President Obama’s easy and early capitulation on missile defense as a sign of naivete and weakness and concluded that the Obama administration was far more desperate for a new nuclear treaty than they were and, as The Los Angeles Times reports, “used that fact in negotiations.”
