Corey Cole was unstoppable Friday night. Cole rushed for 5 touchdowns and passed for another. Enlarge Photo Derek Luna #58 and Matt DeLaCruz #45 had a great game on defense Friday night. DeLaCruz also had 12 tackles. Also on defense Dylan Dawson had 12 tackles and Major Lee had an interception. Enlarge Photo Collin Farrar #4 (above) had a big night running the ball. Farrar had over 200 yards rushing and scored 4 touchdowns as well as Nathan Garnica scoring. Fillmore won 34-22 and went 8-2 in league. Congratulations to Fillmore’s J-2’s Raiders football team. The Raiders beat Santa Paula last Saturday 30-14 for the Conference Champs Title. They hold a record of 8-0. They will continue in playoffs this Saturday against Westlake with a home game at 4:00 pm. DeLa Cruz had 9 tackles, Luna had 13 tackles against Santa Paula. Cortez who plays offense as well contributed 5 catches for 83 yards and several first downs. Coach Dollar stated, “This was a great High School football game! One of the best between Fillmore and Santa Paula for years! On October 11 & 12, twenty-four swim team members swam at Rio Mesa High School in a meet sponsored by Rio Mesa Swim Club. Swimming from Fillmore were Kyle Popp and Remy Richardson. This was Remy’s first swim meet and he received ribbons in two events: 25 yd. breaststroke – 30.85 (7th) and 25 yd. butterfly – 26.76 (6th). Kyle has best times in two of three events: 50 yd. breaststroke – 48.06 (17th); 100 yd. backstroke – 1:55.95 (14th); and 50 yd. freestyle – 40.81 (23rd). On October 31st , forty swim team members swam in the Pumpkin Meet at the Pleasant Valley Aquatic Center, sponsored by Pleasant Valley Swim Team. Eleven swimmers from Fillmore did very well even though the Fillmore Aquatic Center has been closed or too cold for practice for the past three weeks. Participating in their first swim meet were: JJ Dietz (9) – 50 yd. backstroke – 1:09.76 (14th); 50 yd. freestyle – 1:01.25 (11th); 50 yd. butterfly – 1:22.18 (6th); 50 yd. breaststroke – 1:17.01 (8th).
