An open letter to the local daily paper — almost every local daily paper in America:

I remember reading All the President's Men and thinking: That's journalism. You do what it takes to get the truth and you lay it before the public, because the public has a right to know.

This housing crisis didn't come out of nowhere. It was not a vague emanation of the evil Bush administration.

It was a direct result of the political decision, back in the late 1990s, to loosen the rules of lending so that home loans would be more accessible to poor people. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were authorized to approve risky loans.

What is a risky loan? It's a loan that the recipient is likely not to be able to repay.

The goal of this rule change was to help the poor — which especially would help members of minority groups. But how does it help these people to give them a loan that they can't repay? They get into a house, yes, but when they can't make the payments, they lose the house — along with their credit rating.

They end up worse off than before.

This was completely foreseeable and in fact many people did foresee it. One political party, in Congress and in the executive branch, tried repeatedly to tighten up the rules. The other party blocked every such attempt and tried to loosen them. CONTINUED »

The O-man, Barack Hussein Obama, is an eloquently tailored empty suit. No resume, no accomplishments, no experience, no original ideas, no understanding of how the economy works, no understanding of how the world works, no balls, nothing but abstract, empty rhetoric devoid of real substance.

He has no real identity. He is half-white, which he rejects. What he isn't, not a genetic drop of, is 'African-American,' the descendant of enslaved Africans brought to America chained in slave ships. He hasn't a single ancestor who was a slave. Instead, his Arab ancestors were slave owners. Slave-trading was the main Arab business in East Africa for centuries until the British ended it.

Let that sink in: Obama is not the descendant of slaves, he is the descendant of slave owners. Thus he makes the perfect Liberal Messiah. CONTINUED »

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced he has directed the Employment Development Department (EDD) to make available $2 million in job training resources to workers in Los Angeles, Ventura and San Bernardino counties who have lost their jobs because of the recent wildfires.

“Wildfires not only devastate property, but also people’s lives,” said Governor Schwarzenegger. “This funding will be an important tool in helping workers who lost their jobs because of the recent fires get back to earning a living and rebuilding their lives.”

The funds come from the “Dislocated Worker” funds the state receives from the federal government through the Workforce Investment Act. The three counties will be able to request these funds once existing resources have been expended to serve workers unemployed because of the fires. Funds may be used for assistance in returning to work such as skills assessments, job search assistance and job training specifically targeted to the local economy. CONTINUED »

Suppose your car needs repairs. After paying money to a mechanic, it’s still broken. Would you be foolish enough to pay the mechanic a second time? Most customers would try something different rather than waste money on a solution that fails to solve the problem. Yet throwing good money after bad is exactly what happened when the City of Los Angeles continued to fund the LA Bridges program, despite the well-known misappropriation of money by the non-profit organization.

In a 10-year-period, the City of Los Angeles has spent more than $100 million dollars on LA Bridges (which is supposed to allocate funds to various youth and anti-gang programs aimed at steering vulnerable youths away from the gang lifestyle) without producing one single success story.

Good intentions aside, without accountability taxpayer funds have been misused, and in some cases, used for criminal activity. Such was the case for the millions of dollars spent on “No Guns,” a program funded by LA Bridges and run by Hector Marroquin, a “former” gang member.

It turns out that as the City of Los Angeles continued to fund this program, Marroquin used city funds to give jobs to his wife and two kids at the program while also using his position to continue criminal gang activities, undermining the very goals that he was supposed to fight for. He received an eight-year-sentence for illegally selling assault weapons to FBI investigators earlier this year. His son is on trial for home invasion, and his daughter is being investigated for her involvement in a homicide.

Los Angeles taxpayers should be outraged by the abuse of power and money and saddened by the thousands of youths who did not benefit from LA Bridges.

By creating the Early Intervention, Accountability and Rehabilitation Commission, Proposition 6 would reform existing practices of funding anti-gang programs. Quite simply, the commission would audit every taxpayer funded anti-gang programs for quality and effectiveness. CONTINUED »

Find a candidate who can get away with lying about their father being a 'freedom fighter' when he was actually part of the most corrupt and violent government in Kenya 's history. Find a candidate with close ties to The Nation of Islam and the violent Muslim overthrow in Africa, a candidate who is educated among white infidel Americans but hides his bitterness and anger behind a superficial toothy smile. Find a candidate who changes his American name of Barry to the Muslim name of Barak Hussein Obama; and dares anyone to question his true ties under the banner of 'racism'. Nurture this candidate in an atmosphere of anti-white American teaching and surround him with Islamic teacher s. Provide him with a bitter, racist, anti-white, anti-American wife; and supply him with Muslim middle east connections and Islamic monies. Allow him to be clever enough to get away with his anti-white rhetoric and proclaim he will give $834 billion taxpayer dollars to the Muslim controlled United Nations for use in Africa .. Californians sent $314 billion to the federal government last year. What did we get in return? Not much. Read what my colleague, Senator Tom Harmon, of Huntington Beach had to say about this fact:

When Arnold Schwarzenegger assumed the governorship five years ago, he promised to be a "collectinator" who would claim a larger share of federal spending for California.

Like you, I am still waiting. The federal government, not surprisingly, collects more tax money from Californians than the residents of any other state, a whopping $314 billion last year. However, when it comes to federal spending, both for direct activities and in aid to state and local governments, California is way down the lists, according to a new report issued by the Census Bureau.

Federal tax collections amount to about a fifth of Californians' personal income and almost 12 percent of $2.7 trillion in federal revenues, which pretty much matches the state's share of the national population. In fact, California's per-capita federal tax burden, $8,590, is almost identical to the national average.

Although California led other states in total federal spending for its civilian employees and in non-defense procurement contracts in 2007, the Census Bureau says it was 44th among the states in per-capita spending at under $8,000, and well below average in per-capita aid to state and local governments, under $1,500.

Virginia, home to many federal agencies, was tops in direct per-capita spending at over $14,000, thanks to its proximity to Washington D.C. and its leading position in defense procurement contracts. California used to rank very high in that category, but saw defense spending in the state plummet to a fraction of its former level after the end of the Cold War.

Wyoming, meanwhile, was tops in per-capita aid to state and local governments at more than $3,500, more than twice California's level.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today declared a state of emergency in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties due to wildfires:

“As fires burn across California, I want to commend all of the firefighters who are bravely battling these aggressive flames and the first responders who are helping their communities and fellow neighbors. Winds are causing fire conditions to change by the hour, which is why it is so important that residents in the areas surrounding these wildfires heed warnings from public safety officials to evacuate. It’s critical that everyone in the warning areas continue to be prepared—know what you’re going to take and be ready to move very quickly if the evacuation order comes in your area. The state is coordinating with federal and local officials to ensure that firefighters have the resources they need, but with such a serious situation on our hands, we need residents to take every precaution to remain safe during this dangerous and difficult time.”

A PROCLAMATION

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA

WHEREAS on and after October 12, 2008, wildfires broke out in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties and these wildfires continue to spread; and

WHEREAS the wildfires are being driven by high winds, and these conditions are expected to continue; and

WHEREAS several thousand acres have already burned with minimal containment, and more acres are threatened; and

WHEREAS one death has been confirmed as a result of these wildfires and others have been injured; and

WHEREAS numerous homes, businesses and other structures have burned, and many more structures are threatened; and

WHEREAS mandatory evacuations are in place resulting in thousands of residents being evacuated and seeking emergency shelter; and

WHEREAS several key local highways and roads have been closed as a result of these wildfires; and

WHEREAS the smoke from the wildfires is adversely impacting the public health in the area; and

WHEREAS on October 12, 2008, my Office of Emergency Services requested and the Federal Emergency Management Agency granted a Fire Management Assistance Grant to ensure that adequate financial resources are available to rapidly attack the fire and reimburse critical emergency response costs; and

WHEREAS on October 13, 2008, the County of Los Angeles issued a local proclamation of emergency, requesting that I issue a state proclamation of emergency; and

WHEREAS the circumstances of these wildfires, by reason of their magnitude, are or are likely to be beyond the control of the services, personnel, equipment and facilities of any single county, city and county, or city and require the combined forces of a mutual aid region or regions to combat; and

WHEREAS under the provisions of section 8558(b) of the California Government Code, I find that, because of the wildfires, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property exist in the counties of Los Angeles and Ventura.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, Governor of the State of California, in accordance with the authority vested in me by the State Constitution and the California Emergency Services Act, and in particular, section 8625 of the California Government Code, HEREBY PROCLAIM A STATE OF EMERGENCY to exist within the counties of Los Angeles and Ventura.

Election Fraud: A radical group Barack Obama used to work for is committing voter-registration fraud in several states, ahead of the election. What does Obama know about this scam?

It's a legitimate question to raise now that the FBI has raided the offices of the nonprofit Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now in Nevada and North Carolina, two states where Obama and John McCain are running neck-and-neck. ACORN has registered bogus voters in both states.

The group's voter-registration fraud is rampant, and authorities plan a nationwide sweep of ACORN offices to collect records.

In Nevada, state officials say the fraudulent registrations included forms for the starting lineup of the Dallas Cowboys football team, including quarterback Tony Romo.

"Romo is not registered to vote in the state of Nevada," Secretary of State Ross Miller said, "and anybody trying to pose as Terrell Owens won't be able to cast a ballot on Nov. 4."

While those names will be flagged on Election Day, felonious voters may have better luck using other cutouts. Nevada, along with several other key battleground states, requires no ID to vote.

In North Carolina, where Obama has been running nonstop ads, ACORN has registered a record number of new voters, many of them suspicious. Statewide, Democrats are doing better than the GOP in new converts — even in traditionally Republican counties.

There have been 218,749 newly registered Democrats in North Carolina since January — more than five times the 38,337 new Republicans, state records show. CONTINUED »

Well, among other things, he is a guy that said in an interview with our own James Rosen back in 2004 for James' book, he said, and I quote, talking about 9/11, "Was that an act of pure terror? It absolutely was. And there are many other acts of terror carried out by our government even recently that are comparable. Ayers was in charge of a 60 million dollar give away to Chicago's school children. He appointed Obama to be in charge of distributing these monies. Did they go to improve the schools? NO. They went to radical groups like ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now ) ACORN is a radical group, that teaches children to rebel against authority, the Government.

William Ayers was being tried for bombings, in the late 60's they had him on wiretap admitting to these bombings, but the case was thrown out due to a technicality. So in later years, he decided to try a different approach, start with impressionable youth. Obama began run for office in Ayers living room.

For those under 50, you need to educate yourself to the radical left underground that tore apart out country in the late 60's. For those over 50, you will remember the fear gripped our nation, and how these radicals had the U.S. by the throat. For many, Obama's ties to anti-American radicals is going to mean little, they just cant understand how alarming this is to us 'older folk'.

Washington, DC – At 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) will testify at a California State Senate field hearing in Van Nuys examining last month’s deadly collision of a Metrolink commuter train and a Union Pacific freight train in Chatsworth. The September 12 accident killed 25 and injured 135, many of them critically.

Senator Feinstein will testify about actions by Congress to improve rail safety, including passage October 1 of the Rail Safety Improvement Act, which includes a key collision-avoidance provision pushed strongly by Senator Feinstein and Senator Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.)

The legislation specifically calls for installation of Positive Train Control technology on major rail lines by December 31, 2015. Senator Feinstein is pushing the Federal Railroad Administration to require railroads to install this technology sooner on high-risk lines.

Senator Feinstein has also called on Metrolink to add two engineers to its locomotives, to add Automatic Train Stop technology on trains as an interim safety measure and to enforce its ban on cell phone use by train crews.

“There is no doubt our economy faces a crisis. To resolve it, we need a solution that addresses the core reasons for the crisis. As I have said repeatedly, while I do not like government intervention, if we are to intervene, we must do so correctly. I believe this bill is fundamentally flawed and Congress should stay in Washington and not leave until we get the right solution.

“The bill the House considered today is virtually identical to the one which the House rejected Monday, except that the Senate added numerous provisions that will not help the credit crunch facing our nation. Some of these provisions can only be defined as pork at its worst. In the midst of a crisis, how can we justify special interest tax breaks of $192 million aimed at Puerto Rican rum, $148 million for wool fabric producers, $100 million for race track owners, $2 million for kids’ practice arrow makers, and $33 million to American Samoa, which benefits Star-Kist Tuna in Speaker Pelosi’s district?

“The underlying reason for our economic problem is that people are in homes they can’t afford and for which they never should have qualified. The roots of this go back to previous Administrations, when lenders were told they had to make loans to individuals who could not afford them. This was only compounded by tens of thousands of people, including illegal immigrants, who were given loans without proper scrutiny and often put no money down and made few payments, if any at all. Add to that greedy Wall Street scoundrels, unscrupulous mortgage brokers, and an ocean of consumer debt and it is easier to understand how we got into this mess.

“None of these problems have been addressed in this bill. With the passage of this flawed bill today, it is even more important that we aggressively make the necessary changes to end these policies and ensure this never happens again. I fully intend to focus my energy on that.”

Tuesday was the deadline for the Governor to either veto or sign bills into law.

Among those that he signed was “Michelle’s Law,” also known as Senate Bill 1168, a bill I authored that allows dependent college students to continue receiving health insurance for up to one year upon taking an academic leave of absence due to serious illness or injury.

The measure is named after Michelle Morse, a New Hampshire college student who was diagnosed with colon cancer some years ago. When advised by doctors to reduce her course load, Morse’s family discovered that she would be dropped from the family’s health insurance and required to pay monthly premiums of $550 for a continuance policy.

This catch-22 situation made life difficult for the Morse family. In response, many states have passed laws to remediate the problems Michelle Morse experienced during her illness.

Now with California’s Michelle’s Law, ailing students and their families will be put at ease and allowed to focus on treatment and recovery instead of haggling with health care providers and insurance companies.

The Governor also signed Senate Bill SB 1546, another bill I sponsored, that authorizes the Department of Mental Health to contract with independent evaluators to perform clinical assessments of sex offender inmates for possible commitment to state mental hospitals.

The goal is to streamline the evaluation process and to effectively determine who needs further treatment in state mental hospitals – for the sake of sex offenders who did not rehabilitate in state prison and certainly for the safety of communities.

Exactly what was the nature of the relationship?" Robert Gibbs: "Well, John, as The New York Times reported this weekend, they served on two boards together during that time period." Even Obama Has Previously Referred To Ayers As "A Guy Who Lives In My Neighborhood" And Not Someone He Exchanges Ideas With "On A Regular Basis." Obama: "George, but this is an example of what I'm talking about. This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood, who's a professor of English in Chicago who I know and who I have not received some official endorsement from. He's not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis. And the notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8 years old, somehow reflects on me and my values doesn't make much sense, George." They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males alone lest they be guilty of profiling.
