On 07/09/2026, three residents of Fillmore were arrested for drug related offenses, one of which was arrested for transportation for distribution of a controlled substance.
At about 10:00 AM, a deputy working patrol in the City of Fillmore conducted a traffic stop on a sedan near the intersection of Trestle Way at Orchid Street in Fillmore. (S) Enrique Lomeli was identified as the driver with (S) Ramiro Mendez and (S) Savannah Prieto were passengers. Both Lomeli and Mendez are known criminal street gang members from Fillmore.
As a result of the traffic stop investigation, deputies on scene determined all of the occupants were under the influence of a controlled substance. They were subsequently arrested for violation of Health & Safety Code § 11550(a) – [Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance].
In addition to the arrests, deputies located approximately two ounces of methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia and firearm ammunition. Lomeli is a convicted felon and was subsequently arrested for violation of Penal Code § 30305(a)(1) – [Felon in Possession of Ammunition], Health & Safety Code § 11379(a) – [Transportation of Controlled Substance for Distribution], Health & Safety Code § 11378 – [Possession for Sales of a Controlled Substance], and Health & Safety Code § 11364 – [Possession of Drug Paraphernalia].
Lomeli, Mendez, and Prieto were transported and booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility pending court proceedings.

On Saturday, July 4, multiple units responded to a fire at Fillmore High School and found construction materials in the campus parking lot engulfed in flames. On Saturday, July 4, 2026, at approximately 11:42 p.m., Fillmore patrol deputies, along with the Fillmore Fire Department and Ventura County Fire Department, responded to a report of a fire at Fillmore High School. Patrol deputies and fire personnel quickly arrived at the location and observed construction material on fire. The construction material was being stored in a campus parking lot and did not pose a threat to any structures at the school.
Fire fighters quickly deployed hose lines and spent several hours battling the fire, successfully bringing the fire under control. As a result, the fire caused approximately $120,000 in damage. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. Any person with information regarding the fire is encouraged to contact detectives and utilize the link or QR code provided to download and submit any video footage of the incident.

On Wednesday evening, July 8, 2026, county patrol units were dispatched to a domestic disturbance call at the Ventura KOA located in Santa Paula.
Prior to arrival, dispatch advised the male subject had left the area in a gray truck. A responding deputy spotted the vehicle at 10th Street and Main Street and initiated a traffic stop. The driver failed to yield, and a vehicle pursuit began.
The driver drove through Santa Paula and on SR-126, reaching speeds around 100 mph. The driver exited off Peck Road, running several stop signs.
While driving on a dirt road between Peck Road and Briggs Road, the vehicle lost control and was involved in a TC rollover.
The vehicle landed on its roof in a field near Faulkner Road.
The Ventura County Fire Department and AMR paramedics, along with Santa Paula PD and CHP responded to assist. The driver was transported by AMR to Santa Paula ER with unknown injuries. During this time, the driver was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl.

On Saturday, July 4, at 11:40pm, a call went out for a fire at the Fillmore High School Sports Complex construction site, that ignited building insulation stacked on wood pallets. Pictured is the aftermath of the fire. Fillmore Engine 91 responded, along with Ventura County Fire. The fire was put down in about three hours; Fillmore Engine 91 stayed on scene until approximately 7am. Common insulation materials include fiberglass, wool, cellulose, and rigid foam.
