A large bear was spotted in the 800 block on Blaine Street in North Fillmore on Monday and Tuesday, March 30-31. It migrated to the 800 block of Fourth Street on Wednesday, April 1st, and was roaming between Fourth and Edison Lane. A large crowd gathered, taking videos until the police dispersed them. Fish & Game arrived about 10am and were actively trying to get the bear out from under an RV. It appeared to have an injured jaw. At press time (2:30pm) the bear had been tranquilized and captured. The City of Fillmore and the Fillmore Police Department released the following on Instagram and Facebook pages: The City of Fillmore and the Fillmore Police Department would like to notify residents of a bear sighting in the 800 block of 4th Street. |

![]() On Friday, March 13, officials broke ground on the Creekside development in Fillmore. The 134 single-family homes will include 20 affordable units and 16 will be attached Accessory Dwelling Units. The market rate pricing could range from the high $600,000s to mid-$800,000s. The development sits on vacant land west of Goodenough Road and north of B Street. Homes are estimated to go on sale late April/May. The property was bought in 2019 and Williams Homes partnered with Fillmore city staff, Planning Commission and City Council on design and an agreeable plan. ![]() On Monday, March 16, at approximately 3:15 p.m., the Fillmore Fire and Fillmore Police Departments were dispatched to a reported structure fire at the Fillmore Animal Hospital, located in the 500 block of Santa Clara Street. Upon arrival, firefighters found light smoke inside the building, and all occupants and animals were evacuated. The smoke was traced to an air conditioning vent that had possibly caught fire. On 03/11/2026, at about 5:56 PM, deputies from the Fillmore Station responded to the area of A Street near Old Telegraph Road reference a battery victim. Upon arrival, deputies located a 17-year-old juvenile victim with injuries consistent with being assaulted. The juvenile victim was transported to the hospital where he was admitted and treated for his injuries. |
![]() This past season the Fillmore High Girls Basketball team finished 2nd in the Citrus Coast League (CCL), with an overall record 15-11 and 7-3 in league. Multiple Fillmore players were chosen for CCL Teams All-League, along with FHS Girls Head Basketball Coach Mark Blankenship being named Coach of the Year. On Saturday morning, March 14th, the Flashes Track Teams travelled to Rio Mesa and competed at the Spartan Relays. In the Girls Jr./Sr. 100, Kimberly Magana was 2nd in 12.50, Janessa Corona 8th in 13.25, and Mia Munoz 12th in 13.38. Draco, Nathan, Domenic, Barbara, Giselle, Saul, and Jasiah ran personal best times. |
![]() On Sunday, March 8, at 11:40a.m. Fillmore Police responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle at the 400 block of Fillmore Street. Once on scene Deputies spotted a vehicle matching the reported description and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle failed to yield. This resulted in a pursuit with the suspect driving through Central Park and onto the pedestrian walkway near Fillmore City Hall, causing damages Police cancelled the pursuit due to safety concerns. Later at 12:46p.m. Police responded to a Hit and Run accident at 1055 Ventura Street, where reportedly three occupants fleeing the vehicle which matched the description of the vehicle involved in the earlier pursuit. On 03/08/2026, just before noon, deputies from the Fillmore Station responded to the 400 block of Fillmore Street reference a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies located a vehicle matching the description leaving the area and attempted to initiate a traffic enforcement stop. The vehicle failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued resulting in the suspect driving through Central Park and onto the pedestrian walkway near Fillmore City Hall, damaging permanent stanchions. |
