The Fillmore Flashes capped off an incredible regular season home schedule with a hard-fought 24-17 victory over Dos Pueblos Friday night, completing an undefeated home slate and improving to 8-1 on the year. The win also clinches a playoff berth for the Bolts — their fourth postseason appearance in the last five years — as the Flashes continue to build on one of the most successful stretches in program history.
Senior running back Jasiah Patterson was electric once again, rumbling for over 200 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Patterson now ranks second in the county and 12th in the entire CIF Southern Section in rushing yards — a testament to his consistency and the dominance of Fillmore’s offensive line led by Senior Genaro Villela and bolstered by Juniors Landyn Long, Brandon Lane, and Valentin Garcia, with the added power of Sophomore David Tello.
The Fillmore defense was relentless, forcing three turnovers to swing the game’s momentum. Seniors Emiliano Castanon and Mauricio Ocegueda each snagged interceptions, while senior defensive end Marcus Lechuga forced a fumble for the third straight game. On special teams, senior standout and leader Isaac Rivera made a game-changing play — forcing a huge fumble on the opening kickoff of the second half, energizing the Flashes to storm out to a 24-0 lead within the first four minutes of the third quarter.
Junior quarterback Nate Perez continues to display poise and leadership, efficiently guiding the offense. Senior Carlos Cabral added a powerful rushing score, helping seal the win and keeping the Flashes’ home record spotless. Senior Thomas Alamillo added to his impressive resume as a Swiss army knife athlete by throwing a touchdown pass to Junior Saul Fraga who caught his 5th TD through the air.
With momentum and confidence on their side, the Flashes now turn their focus to one of the most anticipated games of the year — The Fillmore vs. Santa Paula rivalry game.

This Thursday, October 30th, the Fillmore Flashes and Santa Paula Cardinals will renew the oldest and longest-running rivalry in Ventura County — and one of the most historic in all of California. This year marks the 115th meeting between the Bolts and the Birds, a tradition that spans more than a century of competition, community pride, and unforgettable moments.
This year, the game will be played at Larabee Stadium (Ventura High School), with JV kicking off at 4:00 PM and Varsity at 7:00 PM. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, as tickets are available exclusively on GoFan.com and are selling quickly.

Ventura County students are making gains in both math and English language arts, according to the latest scores from the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). The percentage of students countywide who met or exceeded state standards in the 2024-2025 school year is up by 1.3% in math and 1.9% in English. This is the fourth consecutive year of improvement since scores dipped during the pandemic. Fillmore Unified School District Superintendent Christine Schieferle said, “Please join the entire Fillmore Unified School District in congratulating the 164 Fillmore High Seniors (that’s nearly 70% of the senior class) who have been provisionally accepted to California State University Channel Islands. The Fillmore Unified School District and California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding designed to expand higher education opportunities for Fillmore High School students. Through this partnership, eligible Fillmore High graduates will be granted priority admission to CSUCI, supporting a seamless transition from high school to college. The agreement reflects both institutions’ shared commitment to increasing college access, promoting academic success, and encouraging students from our Fillmore/Piru community to pursue four-year university degrees close to home.”

On Friday, October 17, 2025, at approximately 6:02 p.m., patrol deputies were dispatched to an apartment in the 400 block of Main Street in Fillmore regarding a restraining order violation.
Upon arrival, deputies contacted the suspect, a 34-year-old Fillmore resident, outside the residence. The suspect appeared intoxicated, was uncooperative, and became physically violent with deputies. After a brief struggle, the suspect was restrained and placed in handcuffs.
Based on the investigation, the suspect was arrested for multiple charges, including battery, violation of a domestic relations court order, three counts of child endangerment, and two counts of resisting an executive officer with force or violence.
The suspect was medically cleared at a local hospital and booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility, where he remains in custody pending criminal proceedings. The two patrol deputies involved in the incident were evaluated for minor injuries and also cleared at the hospital.

On 10/09/2025, around 9:15 AM, patrol deputies from the Sheriff’s Fillmore Station carried out a probation search at a residence on the 100 block of Santa Clara Street in Fillmore as part of proactive patrol efforts.

During the search, deputies contacted two residents, identified as Kyle Miller and Talysa Ray, who were suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance. After an investigation, both Miller and Ray were arrested for misdemeanor drug-related charges.

While searching the residence, deputies also located several handguns and two rifles. One of the rifles met the legal criteria, classifying it as an illegal assault weapon. As a result, Kyle Miller was additionally arrested for felony weapons violations to include, Penal Code § 30605(a) – [Possession of an Assault Weapon], Penal Code § 32310 – [Possession of Large Capacity Magazine], Penal Code § 29800(a)(1) – [Addict in Possession of Firearm], and Penal Code 30305(a)(1) § – [Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition].

Both suspects were transported and booked at the Ventura County Jail pending court proceedings. The case remains under investigation by the Fillmore Station’s patrol and investigative units.
