1. COMPUTER USE FORMS – We have 64 students who have not yet turned in the signed Computer Use Forms. You have until TOMORROW, 2/25 to return the signed forms. On that day if we do not have your form we will be disabling your computer password. The only way to get it enabled again is to return the signed form. Passwords will be enabled only on Wednesday of each week.

1. SPRING PICTURE DAY TODAY - All students will have pictures taken in their PE class. In addition to the Spring pictures, 8th graders will have their promotion pictures taken. Once your pictures are printed, you will have the option of purchasing them or returning them to the school.
2. SCHOOL RULES – Crimestoppers offers a $50 reward for information regarding a crime. Student will remain anonymous. Give your information to Mr. Schieferle or Mrs. Godfrey.

3. UNDER 14 Fillmore Soccer Academy AYSO Allstars came home with a second place after participating the Ventura-Santa Barbara County soccer championships. The boys outscored the opposition 26-5. They were the only team not to receive any yellow or red cards which means they exhibited great sportsmanship. These boys will be participating in other tournaments this Spring and we wish them luck! Great job guys!

In celebration of National Engineering Week, Ventura College and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers are hosting a fun and informative Science Night at FMS on Thursday, 2/19 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. College students and professional engineers will be helping students create mini science projects such as gliders and cars and holding competitions to see how well they work. There will be prizes and refreshments will be served. The event is free and parents are welcome to attend. FLYERS are available in the front office.

As part of National Engineering Week, Fillmore Middle School will be the site for Fillmore’s first annual Science Night (Noche de Ciencias) on Thursday, February 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Fillmore Middle School gym.

At this fun and informative event, Ventura College engineering, math and science students together with engineering professionals and FHS MESA Club students will guide Fillmore Middle School and High School students on hands-on projects to help them learn more about the value of science, engineering, math and the power of a college education. There will prizes awarded for various projects and door prizes as well.

A special guest, Dr. Martha González, M.D., M.P.H., Director of the Women’s Comprehensive Osteoporosis Center, will speak to students and parents about her distinguished career in medicine and what it takes to overcome obstacles and reach your goals. CONTINUED »

 

The National High School Rodeo Association- Wrangler Division (NHSRA-WD), the oldest and largest youth rodeo organization in North America, has named Tyler Forsberg, a 8th grader at Fillmore Middle School as a co-captain of the prestigious Wrangler All-Star Rodeo Team for the Wrangler Division. was selected to the team by a vote of fellow Wrangler Division. Forsberg was selected to the team by a vote of fellow Wrangler Division. (WD) Wrangler All-Star Rodeo team members.

The NHSRA-WD and Wrangler created the Wrangler All-Star Rodeo Team in 1 998 to recognize over 1 ,200 high school student athletes across the United States and Canada for their leadership qualities, academic performance and athletic achievements. The WD Wrangler All-Star Rodeo Team is fashioned after the prestigious Wrangler Champion Pro Rodeo Team, which includes rodeo superstars like Trevor Brazile, Joe Beaver, Dan Mortensen, Dustin Elliott, Kelly Kaminski, Will Lowe, and Hall-of-Famer, the late Jim Shoulders. Similar to their professional counterparts, members of the WD Wrangler All-Star Rodeo team wear official Wrangler competition apparel consisting of Wrangler Twenty X shirts embroidered with the team logo and Wrangler competition jeans. 1. THE VALENTINE DANCE has been cancelled. Refunds of tickets are available during both lunches today on the pavilion stage. Our next dance will be the Spring Dance in late March, early April.
2. SCHOOL RULES – Pajamas and slippers are NOT appropriate school attire. If you come “dressed” in these items, you will be required to change! Also, do NOT bring blankets!
3. REWARD OFFERED for the return of a dark colored teddy bear missing from C-1. If you have information, please see Mr. Schieferle or Mrs. Godfrey.

7. NAMING CONTEST – The City of Fillmore is sponsoring a contest to name the new 22-acre community park which is being built at C & River Streets, next to the new skateboard park. The winner of the contest will receive $50.00. You can submit your entry to Fillmore City Hall. The park is expected to be finished in August and will have tennis & basketball courts, baseball & football fields, bike paths and a concession stand!
