STUDENT INFORMATION

1. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that the office has your current mailing address and phone number. We are preparing our summer packets to mail home regarding our next school year. If you have a change in address or phone number, please bring the correct information to the office. Thanks for your help!
2. SCHOOL RULES – Possession of permanent markers will result in a 3-day suspension.
3. CAREER LUNCH TODAY during 1st lunch in room J-1. Our speaker will be Dr. Elias Murillo, D.C., just graduated chiropractor. Dr. Murillo will tell us all about how he became a chiropractor and how he plans to begin his new practice.
4. 8th GRADERS – Promotion is coming upon us fast. In order to participate in the end-of-the year school activities you must pay your library and textbook fines. A list of 8th grader’s overdue fines is posted in the library. Come in and check the list and EVERYONE needs to finish up your AR reading. There are only 3 weeks left to read library books.
5. THE LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL is Monday, 6/1-Thursday, 6/4. We will NOT have a late start on Wednesday, 6/3. School will start at 7:55 a.m. each of these days. Monday, 6/1 is a full day. Tuesday-Thursday, 6/2-6/4/09 are minimum days and school will be dismissed at 12:07 p.m.
6. 8th GRADE PROMOTION takes place on Thursday, 6/4 at 11:00 a.m. Students should dress appropriately as our dress code WILL BE ENFORCED. If you need a copy of the dress code, every teacher has copies in their classroom.

1. PEACE PARTY CONTEST - Veterans for Peace is sponsoring a Peace Party contest. Write a poem about Peace; any style is possible. One student from each grade level will win a $50 prize and will be recognized during the Pride in America Day assembly. Turn in your poems to your Language Arts teacher. The deadline is next Wednesday, 5/20.
2. WALL OF HONOR - If you have family members or close friends who are veterans, fill out a Wall of Honor certificate and return it to your first period of the day or Mrs. Wade by Monday, 5/18. These certificates have been given to your first period of the day teacher.

Some are being passed on to other students before being returned to the library. Now dear students, if YOU lend your book out, YOU are still responsible for your book. 1. A MESSAGE FROM YOUR SCHOOL HEALTH OFFICE – Swine flu is in the news. Please follow these good health habits: Avoid close contact with people who are sick, stay at home when you are sick, cover your mouth and nose with tissue or your sleeve when you cough or sneeze (not your hands), wash your hands often during the day, and avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
2. SCHOOL RULES – Harassing or threatening any student or adult will result in a 3-5 day suspension and possible expulsion.
3. A MESSAGE FROM THE LIBRARY – Dear Ladies & Germs: We have a plethora of bound multi-page information units that are being held beyond their allotted time. WE HAVE MANY BOOKS THAT ARE OVERDUE! In particular, the most popular books which are on hold for many students are curiously held way beyond their due dates. Some are being passed on to other students before being returned to the library. Now dear students, if YOU lend your book out, YOU are still responsible for your book. If your friend looses it, YOU are still the one responsible. Besides, it is against the rules. Those of you with the Twilight series, Child Called It series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the Notebook, Cut, Freedom Writers Diary, It Happenend to Nancy, Optical Illusions, TTYL, Bob Marley, or Green Eggs and Ham, I expect to see you very soon with your book in hand. PARENT INFORMATION

1. 8TH GRADE PARENTS - THE HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT needs your support and encourages you to join the FHS Athletic Booster Club. This group supports athletics for all of the athletic teams featured at the high school. Without an active and support driven Booster Club, we cannot improve, introduce, or even maintain existing athletic programs offered at Fillmore High School. Please consider serving as a Booster Club board member for the 2009/2010 term. An election to select next year’s board will be held Monday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Fillmore High School Hall of Fame, located in the Science Building.
