STUDENT INFORMATION

1. PRIDE IN AMERICA DAY is coming on May 22nd. This is a special day where we show our pride in our fabulous country and honor our veterans. As part of that day we will be making special flags with our Wall of Honor certificates. If you have family members or close friends who are veterans, fill our a Wall of Honor certificate and return it to your first period of the day or Mrs. Wade by Monday, 5/18. These certificates have been given to your first period of the day teacher.
2. SCHOOL RULES – Falsifying or lying about an incident will result in a 3-day suspension.
3. CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER – Congratulations to our top sellers: 1st place to Samantha Gunter who sold 19 boxes; 2nd place to Gabriel Alcozar who sold 11 boxes, and 3rd placed to Alissa Hernandez and Fernando Arroyo who both sold 9 boxes each. The students who sold 4 boxes and more will get a chance to go to the money booth on Monday during their lunch time. All other prizes will be given out on Tuesday during both lunches in room G-1.
4. STUDENTS OF THE MONTH – Congratulations to the following students: Grade 6: Robin Mchammel & Ricardo Negrete; Grade 7: Omar Magana & Andrea Hernandez; and Grade 8: Monique Avila & Collin Farrar. Read about some of their favorite activities in The Doghouse.
5. STAFF OF THE MONTH – Congratulations to our science teacher MRs. Merrill and to our custodian Johnny Uribe. Read all about them in The Doghouse.
6. OPEN HOUSE takes place next Tuesday, 5/12 from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
7. EARTH DAY IS EVERY DAY – For more Information about recycling newspapers, see Felicity Zavala & Sarah Lopez.
8. A MESSAGE FROM YOUR SCHOOL HEALTH OFFICE – Swine flu is in the news. Please follow these good health habits: Avoid close contact with people who are sick, stay at home when you are sick, cover your mouth and nose with tissue or your sleeve when you cough or sneeze (not your hands), wash your hands often during the day, and avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
9. 8th GRADE STUDENTS ONLY – If you are interested in playing in the staff against student softball game for Pride in America Day, please sign up at the attendance window at lunch today. Your name will be added to a lottery.
10. TALENT SHOW – Students and staff who would like to participate in a fun event, please sign up for our 3rd annual talent show. The show is scheduled to take place June 3. If you have any questions, need more information, or a room to practice, please see Ms. Morielli in room G-1.

PARENT INFORMATION

1. 8TH GRADE PARENTS - THE HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT needs your support and encourages you to join the FHS Athletic Booster Club. This group supports athletics for all of the athletic teams featured at the high school. Without an active and support driven Booster Club, we cannot improve, introduce, or even maintain existing athletic programs offered at Fillmore High School. Please consider serving as a Booster Club board member for the 2009/2010 term. An election to select next year’s board will be held Monday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Fillmore High School Hall of Fame, located in the Science Building. Should you have questions or concerns, please contact Lynn in the Student Store at 524-8491.
2. ANY PARENT who wishes to participate in our school’s newspaper by writing an interesting article or poetry, sharing a favorite recipe, or submitting photos of our school events, please contact Ms. Morielli in room G-1 or email her at: amorielli@fillmore.k12.ca.us
