Heritage Valley Blazers Compete at JV Track & Field Finals
During the weekend of April 29 the Heritage Valley Blazers competed and hosted the JV Track & Field Finals and showed very well with many advancing to the Varsity Finals on Saturday, May 6th at Moorpark High School. Heritage Valley Blazers hosted the JV Track & Field Finals on April 29, 2023. Teams who participated were Gold Coast Spartans, Ojai Roadrunners, Ventura Tigres and Heritage Valley Blazers. HVB Coach Chloe Smith kicked off the meet by singing the national anthem.

The season ended with a lot of Personal Records for our athletes who gave it their all on the track. In our Gremlin girls division. Jaime Medina had a PR of 18.64 and a 4th place overall finish in the 100 meter dash and a 3rd place finish in the 200 (40.51). Emery Riesgo had a great day on the track with 4 PR’s in the 400 (50.62), 100 (23.79), 200 (50.62) and long jump (6-2.00). Gracee Pillado finished her season with a PR of 2:08.78 in the 400 and 59.44 in the 200. Alessandra Ramirez had a huge PR in the 800 running a personal best in 3:53.92. Valerie Ramirez (52.35) and Alani Halcon (21.99) both PR’d in the 200.

Gremlin boy Nyle Johnson blazed his way to 3, 1st place finishes in the 400 (1:39.83), 100 (17.11) and 200 (37.35) meter race. Teammate Miles Kaiser had a 4th place finish with a PR of 1:39.83 (400) and 200 (44.50). Also bringing in some heat were teammates Jacob Banuelos who took 1st place in the 800 (3:21.37) and a 200 PR (18.33). Adrien Marrufo 100 (18.44), 200(39.48), Samuel Bennett II 100 (22.40), long jump (5-02.00). Sebastian Fraga 200 (41.28), and Julian Razo 200 (51.36) also had personal records. Blazers took a 1, 2 finishes in long jump with Jace Chewning (1st) and Julian Nunez jumping a PR of 7-06.50. Also setting Personal records were Moses Magaña (6-04.00).

Bantam girls Aixa Lomeli took 1st place with a PR of 1:21.94 in the 400. Hannah Faulk finished 3rd with a PR of 1:24.76. Ava Hurtado (1:33.41) and Nayeli Ponce (1:39.37) also earned PR’s. Heating up the 100 meter race were Cali Halcon (17.53), Sophia Hurtado (19.09), Viviannah Vargas (19.24), Aria Pillado (19.93), Natalie Espitia (21.47) and Layla Bernal (20.55), 200(46.07). Coraline Villela blazed into a 1st place finish and PR of 3:07.36 in the 800 meters. Setting personal records in the 200 meter race were Samantha Jimenez (38.22) who also jumped into a 2nd place finish. Setting PR’s were Coraline Villea (8-03.00) and Ava Hurtado (6-09.00).

Bantam Boys Jacob Cruz had a personal best in the 1600 race with a time of 6:42.91. Luke Furness (1:25.67), and Xayvier Magana (1:46.09) earned PR’s in the 400 meters. Running
