Flashes Track Competes at Pasadena Invite

A select group of Fillmore track athletes qualified to compete in their respective events at the South Pasadena Tiger Invite on Saturday, April 10th. Fourteen athletes were selected to compete in this meet based on the best marks this season.
The first event for the Fillmore team was the Rising Star 1600 Girls meter run. Camila Rodriguez took the lead from the start, and never relinquished it, capturing 1st place in a new personal best of 5:11.75, and winning a medal. Damian Santa Rosa followed in the Rising Star Boys 1600-meter run and had a wardrobe malfunction, losing a shoe with a lap and a half to go. Damian still managed to sub 5 minutes running a 4:57.82.
In the Rising Stars Boys 400-meter run, Nathan Hernandez finished 18th in 51.88.
Kimberly Magana raced in the Varsity Girls 100-meter sprint and finished 7th in 12.33. Teammate Janessa Corona finished 43rd in a personal best time of 12.97. In the Varsity Boys 100, Saul Fraga Sandoval finished 18th in 10.88. Teammate Andrew Estrada finished 51st in 11.33.
Damian Santa Rosa doubled back in the Rising Stars Boys 800-meter run and placed 64th in 2:11.82.
In the Varsity Boys Long Jump, Saul Fraga Sandoval jumped 20’ 10” and finished in 13th.
In the Varsity Boys Triple Jump, Jasiah Patterson placed 17th, jumping 38’ 00”.
In the Varsity Girls Shot Put, Emily Soltero was 29th, tossing the put 25’ 07”.
In the Rising Stars Girls Shot Put, Hermelinda Osegueda, was 2nd with a throw of 31’ 11”. She was a medal winner in this event. Adrianna Deleon was 7th in 29’ 11”, and Lucy Murrillo was 17th in 27’ 05’.
In the Varsity Boys Shot Put, Isaac Rivera placed 22nd with a put of 40’ 3.50”.
In the Varsity Girls Discus, Emily Soltero was 23rd with a toss of 82’ 10”.
In the Rising Stars Discus, Adrianna Deleon was 2nd with a throw of 105’ 02”. She was a medal winner in this event. Hermelinda Osegueda was 8th with a throw of 92’ 07”, and Lucy Murrillo was 19th in 75’ 08”.

Moorpark Rummers at Mt. Sac Relays
On Saturday, April 11th, Angel Garcia and Makhi Hooker competed at the Mt. San Antonio College Relays. Angel ran a personal best time in the 5000-meter race, and placed 5th in 15:58.35. Makhi ran on Moorpark’s 4 X 100-meter relay team that finished 3rd in a personal best team time of 41.32. Team members were Desmond Winbush, Makhi Hooker, Kandi Umejiego, and Ray Carmel. In individual events Makhi ran the 100-meters, placing 12th overall in 10.87. Makhi doubled in the 200 meters, placing 17th overall in 22.24.
