Flashes Track Splits with Hueneme
On Tuesday, March 24, the Fillmore High School track teams traveled to Hueneme High School to compete against the Vikings in 16 different events over 4 divisions.
The Frosh/Sopho Boys 4x100 meter relay was the first running event of the afternoon. The four athletes—Domenic Corona, Draco Centurion, Nathan Lepe, and Elijah Sandoval—posted a winning time of 48.65. The Varsity Boys won their race in an excellent 43.91 Team members on the Varsity Boys Team were Jasiah Patterson, Saul Fraga-Sandoval, Joshua Felix, and Nathan Hernandez.
In the JV Girls 1600-meter run, Gabriela Lopez placed first in (6:22.80). Camila Soto followed in (2nd in 6:25.20), Melanie Martinez (4th in 6:31.43), Mariana Elvira (8th in 6:51.41), Christina Setty (10th in 6:53.39), and Valeria Munoz Mendez (11th in 6:53.66). Nicholas Cerda captured 5th place in the Frosh/Sopho Boys 1600-meters in a time of 5:32.31. He was followed by Prince Kamradt (6th in 5:32.54). In the Varsity Girls 1600 meters Melanie Flores placed (4th in 6:05.88), Michelle Setty (5th in 6:18.0), Andrea Gamez (6th in 6:32.08). In the Varsity Boys 1600-meter run, Damian Santa Rosa was Fillmore’s top finisher, (3rd in 4:46.02). He was followed by Jordan Hernandez (8th in 5:20.18) Gabriel Lagunas (9th in 5:39.71), and Ricardo Quilo (10th in 6:08.66). Gabriela Lopez, Camilo Soto, Melanie Martinez, Mariana Elvira, Christina Setty, Michelle Setty, Prince Kamradt, Damian Santa Rosa, and Gabriel Lagunas ran personal best times.
Yaneli Landin won the Varsity Girls 100-meter hurdles in 19.18.
Giselle Villareal won the JV Girls 400-meter run in 72.42. She was followed by Jessica Aparicio 2nd in 76.37. Francisco Ruiz Jr. placed 1st in the Frosh/Sopho Boys 400-meter run in 62.65. He was followed by Jack Ignacio 2nd in 62.82. Delilah Lupercio placed 3rd in the Varsity Girls 400 meters in 66.36. She was followed by Jaiden Peacock (4th in 66.38), and Barbara Soltero (5th in 68.97). In the Varsity Boys 400-meters, Nathan Hernandez placed (2nd in 52.04). Giselle Villareal, Barbara Soltero, Jaiden Peacoak, Delilah Lupercio, and Francisco Ruiz Jr. ran personal best times.
In the JV Girls 100-meter dash, Emma Ortiz took (1st in 14.35). Draco Centurion was the Frosh/Sopho Boys 100-meter winner in 12.09. He was followed by Harley Halcon (5th in 13.06), and Domenic Corona (9th in 13.40). Janessa Corona won the Varsity Girls 100-meters race in 12.99. She was followed by, Mia Munoz (2nd in 13.27). Saul Fraga-Sandoval won the Varsity Boys 100-meters in 10.92. He was followed by Jasiah Patterson (3rd in 11.84). Harley Halcon, Emma Ortiz and Janessa Corona ran personal best times.
The JV Girls 800-meter run, Camila Soto placed (2nd in 2:57.72), Gabriela Lopez (3rd in 3:01.6), Melanie Martinez (4th in 3:04.10), Mariana Elvira was (5th in 3:06.5, and Christina Setty (6th in 3:12.23). Nathan Lepe finished 2nd in the Frosh/Sopho Boys 800-meters in 2:18.26. He was followed by Prince Kamradt (4th in 2:23.90). Melanie Flores placed 3rd in the Girls 800-meter run in 2:49.6, Andrea Gamez followed finishing (4th in 2:49.95). She was followed by Michelle Setty (5th in 2:53.04), In the Varsity Boys 800-meter, Orlando Vigil Tello was Fillmore’s top Varsity finisher, (6th in 2:24.72). He was followed by Gabriel Lagunas 8th in 2:32.38), and Ricardo Quilo (9th in 2:42.24). Camila, Gabriela, Melanie, Mariana, Andrea, Nathan Lepe, Prince Kamradt, and Gabriel Lagunas ran personal best times.
Yaneli Landin won the Varsity Girls 300-meter hurdles in a personal best time of 52.67.
Emma Ortiz won the JV Girls 200 meters in 31.06. She was followed by Giselle Villareal (2nd in 31.59), and Jessica Aparicio (3rd in 31.74). Draco Centurion won the Frosh/Sopho Boys 200-meter dash in a time of 24.83. He was followed by Domenic Corona (3rd in 26.59), Francisco Ruiz Jr. (6th in 27.98), and Jack Ignacio (7th in 27.99). Janessa Corona won the Varsity Girls 200-meter dash in 27.40. Mia Munoz was 3rd in 28.52, and Barbara Soltero 5th in 29.95). In the Varsity Boys 200-meter race, Saul Fraga-Sandoval finished (1st in 22.39), and Joshua Felix was (4th in 23.63). Jessica Aparicio, Giselle Villareal, Jessica Corona, SaulFraga-Sandoval and Joshua Felix ran personal best times.
In the Frosh/Sopho boys 3200-meter race Nikolias Cerda finished 3rd in 11:55.61. Jordan Hernandez was Fillmore’s top finisher in the Varsity Boys 3200-meter race. Jordan finished 4th in 12:02.42. In the Varsity Girls 3200-meter race, Michelle Setty finished (3rd in 13:47.94). In the JV Girls, Valeria Munoz Mendez placed 3rd in 14:56.65). Michelle ran a personal best time.
In the JV Girls 4x400 meter relay, the team of Mariana Elvira, Gabriela Lopez, Christina Setty, and Camila Soto placed 1st in 5:24.04. This was a team personal best time. The Frosh/Sopho Boys team of Domenic Corona, Nathan Lepe, Jack Ignacio, and Draco Centurion placed 1st in 4:05.11. In the Varsity Girls 4x400 meter relay, Andrea Gamez, Mia Munoz, Barbara Soltero, and Yaneli Landin placed 1st in 4:37.41. This was a team personal best time.
The JV Girls discus, was won by Sophia Rivera (1st in 72’ 11”), Desiree Marrufo followed (2nd in 71’ 11”), Teresa Rangel (3rd in 65’ 07”), Karla Bueno was (4th in 67’ 01”), Nancy Anguiano ( 5th in 51’ 4”), Jozelyn Ruiz (6th In 47’ 03”), and Liliana Patterson (7th in 44’ 10”). In the Frosh/Sopho Boys discus, Nathaniel Tafoya led all Fillmore competitors with a 2nd place throw of 88’ 10”. He was followed by Joseph Aguilar (7th in 73’ 01”), Elijah Prado (9th in 67’ 11”), and Joshua Morales (10th in 64’ 08”), In the Varsity Girls discus competition, Adrianna Deleon won the event with a throw of 101’ 01”. She was followed by Hermelinda Ocegueda (2nd in 94’ 02”), Lucy Murrillo (3rd in 88’ 02”), Emily Soltero (4th in 78’ 06”), Valerie Rodriguez (5th in 67’ 09”). In the Varsity Boys discus, Isaac Rivera won the event in 127’ 06”. Marcus Lechuga was (2nd in 117’ 02”), Emanuel Velazquez (3rd in 10’ 00”), and Valentin Garcia (4th in 100’ 09”), Sophia, Teresa, Karla, Nancy, Jozelyn, Nathaniel, Isaac, Emanuel, and Valentin had personal best throws.
In the JV Girls shot put, Desiree Marrufo won the event in 24’ 11”. She was followed by Sophia Rivera (2nd in 22’ 00”), Nancy Anguiano (3rd in 21’ 06”), Teresa Rangel (4th in 21’ 02.5”), Lily Patterson (5th in 19’ 07.5”), Jozelyn Ruiz (6th in 17’ 10.5”), and Karla Bueno (7th in 17’ 02”). Elijah Prado placed 4th in the F/S Boys shot put with a heave of 34’ 10.5”. He was followed by Joseph Aguilar (5th in 34’ 08.5”), Nathaniel Tafoya (7th in 34’ 05”), and Joshua Morales (9th in 33’ 03”). Hermelinda Ocegueda won the Varsity Girls shot put in 32’ 05”. She was followed by Adrianna Deleon. (2nd in 31’ 10.5”), Lucy Murrillo (3rd in 28’ 04”), Emily Soltero (4th in 28’ 03”), Valerie Rodriguez (5th in 24’ 08”). Isaac Rivera placed 1st in the Varsity Boys shot put with a heave of 41’ 02.5”. He was followed by Marcus Lechuga (2nd in 39’ 09”), Emanuel Velazquez (3rd in 35’ 11.5”), and Isaiah Meza 4th in 33’ 08.5”. Valerie Rodriguez, Elijah Prado, and Joshua Morales had personal best puts.
In the Frosh/Sopho boys high jump, Nathan Lepe won the event in 4’ 10”, Jack Ignacio was 2nd in 4’ 08”. Yaneli Landin was the winner in the Varsity Girls high jump with a leap of 4’ 4”.
Saul Fraga-Sandoval won the Varsity Boys long jump, posting a mark of 21’ 05”. He was followed by Joshua Felix (3rd in 19’ 01”), Jasiah Patterson (4th in 18’ 07”) and Nathan Hernandez (5th in 17’ 11”. In the Girls Varsity long jump, Janessa Corona finished (1st in 15’ 08”. Saul Fraga-Sandoval, Joshua Felix, and Nathan Hernandez lept to a personal best distance.
In the Varsity Boys triple jump, Jasiah Patterson was 1st with a leap of 39’ 03”.
In the team competition, Fillmore won the JV Girls, and the Varsity Girls. On Friday, April 10th, Fillmore track team members will travel to South Pasadena and compete at the Tiger invite. This meet is set to start at 11:00 a.m.

Simi Valley Invitational
On Saturday, March 28, a group of Fillmore Track athletes traveled to Simi and competed in the Simi Valley Invitational. In the boys Rated 4 X 100-meter run, the Fillmore boys’ team of Jasiah Patterson, Saul Fraga-Sandoval, Joshua Felix, and Andrew Estrada finished 6th in 43.99.
In the Rated boy 400 meter, Nathan Hernandez ran a personal best time of 51.33 and finished in 4th.
In the Rated girls 100 meters, Janessa Corona finished 28th in 13.16. In the Invitational girls 100 meters, Kimberly Magana placed 3rd in 12.21. In the Invitational boys 100 meters, Saul Fraga-Sandoval was 7th in 11.05, and Andrew Estrada was 8th in 11.53.
In Heat 3 of the Rated girls 300-meter hurdles, Yaneli Landin was 3rd in a personal best of 51.54.
In the Seeded girls long jump, Janessa Corona lept to a personal best of 16’ 04.75”. In the Seeded boys long jump, Saul Fraga-Sandoval placed 3rd in 20’ 11”.
In the Heat 1 of the Seeded girls triple jump, Sarah Cedillos placed 12th jumping 29’ 06”. In Flight 1 of the Invitational triple jump, Jasiah Patterson placed 7th with a jump of 39’ 0.5”.
In the Seeded girls shot put, Adrianna Deleon place 3rd in 32’ 08”. Emily Soltero was 16th in 27’ 09.5”. Lucy Murrillo was 21st in 26’ 03”. In the Invitational girls shot put, Hermelinda Ocegueda was 5th in 33’ 01”. In the Seeded boys shot put, Isaac Rivera was 5th, tossing the put 43’.00”. Marcus Lechuga was 17th with a 39’ 00. effort.
In the Seeded girl’s discus, Hermelinda Ocegueda was 4th in 88’ 01”. Emily Soltero placed 11th in 83’ 02”. In Heat 2, Lucy Murrillo was 3rd with a toss of 89’ 08”.
In the Seeded boy’s discus, Isaiah Meza threw a personal best and won the event in 129’ 08”. Isaac Rivera was 5th in 125’ 09”, and Marcus Lechuga 8th in 117’ 10”.

Fillmore Distance Squad Competes in Ventura
Saturday evening, March 28, the distance runners on the Fillmore track squad competed on the Ventura High School track in the 4th Annual Ventura Speed Project.
First off the line in Heat 1 of the 800-meters were Michelle Setty and Andrea Gamez. Andrea finished 13th in 2:50.82, and Michelle was 14th in 2:52.57. This was a personal best time for Michelle.
Damian Santa Rosa placed 7th in his debut 800-meter race in a respectable 2:08.32.
In the girls 1600-meter run Camila Soto was Fillmore’s top finisher, 16th in 6:17.62. She was followed by Melanie Martinez 17th in 6:32.59, Gabriela Lopez 21st in 6:42.49, Mariana Elvira 22nd in 6:44.20, Christina Setty 23rd in 6:45.10, and I Valeria Munoz Mendez 24th in 6:53.34. Camila, Mariana, and Christina ran personal best times.
Jordan Hernandez led the Fillmore boys in the 1600-meter run. Jordan placed 36th in 5:13.89. He was followed by Nikolias Cerda 40th in 5:18.79, Prince Kamradt 44th in 5:24.33, Gabriel Lagunas 48th in 5:35.45, Alfredo Bacilio 51st in 5:46.29, and Ricardo Quilo 55th in 6:01.99. All 6 athletes ran personal best times.
In the girls 4 X 800-meter relay, Fillmore Team A placed 5th in 12:06.28. Team members included Camila Soto, Andrea Gamez, Michelle Setty, and Melanie Martinez. Team B finished in 6th place in 12:42.48. Team members were Mariana Elvira, Gabriela Lopez, Valera Munoz Mendez, and Christina Setty.
In the boys 4 X 800-meter relay, the team of Prince Kamradt, Damian Santa Rosa, Nikolias Cerda, and Jordan Hernandez placed 6th in 9:49.57.
