Flashes & Cardinals Track Teams Compete

On Thursday, March 5th, the Fillmore Track Teams hosted and competed against our neighbors to the west, the Santa Paula Cardinals.
The Frosh/Sopho Boys 4x100 meter relay was the first running event of the afternoon. The four athletes—Domenic Corona, Draco Centurion, Nathan Lepe, and James Magana Jr.—posted a winning time of 48.86. The Varsity Boys won their race in an excellent 44.36. Team members were Jasiah Patterson, Saul Fraga-Sandoval, Joshua Felix, and Nathan Hernandez.
In the JV Girls 1600-meter run, Valeria Munoz Mendez placed second in (6:51.74). Christina Setty 4th in 7:07.75, Juliana Patterson (5th in 7:23.61), Mariana Elvira (6th in 7:23.62), and Gabriela Lopez (7th in 7:24.15). Nikolias Cerda captured 1st place in the F/S Boys 1600 meters in a personal best time of 5:24.61. In the Varsity Girls 1600 meters Melanie Flores placed (2nd in 6:30.21), Michelle Setty (4th in 6:29.18), Andrea Gamez (5th in 6:44.61), and Megan Robles (8th in 7:45.79). In the Varsity Boys 1600-meter run, Jordan Hernandez was Fillmore’s top finisher, (7th in 5:19.45). He was followed by Gabriel Lagunas (8th in 6:16.78) and Ricardo Quilo (9th in 6:36.34). Christina Setty, Michelle Setty, Andrea Gamez, Nikolias Cerda, Jordan Hernandez, and Gabriel Lagunas ran personal best times.
Yaneli Landin won the Varsity Girls 100-meter hurdles in 20.43.
Giselle Villareal won the JV Girls 400-meter run in 73.16. She was followed by Jessica Aparicio 2nd in 73.57. Jack Ignacio placed 3rd in the Frosh/Sopho Boys 400 meter run in 63.45. He was followed by Francisco Ruiz Jr. 4th in 64.87, and Elijah Sandoval 5th in 68.02. Jessica Aparicio won the Varsity Girls 400-meters in 64.79. She was followed by Jaiden Peacock (3rd in 68.50), Barbara Soltero (4th in 69.21), and Delilah Lupercio (5th in 70.53). In the Varsity Boys 400 meters, Nathan Hernandez placed (2nd in 51.93). He was followed by Orlando Vigil Tello (4th in 59.48). Giselle Villareal, Jessica Aparicio, Barbara Soltero, Delilah Lupercio, Jack Ignacio, Francisco Ruiz Jr., Elijah Sandoval, and Nathan Hernandez ran personal best times.
In the JV Girls 100-meter dash, Emma Ortiz took (1st in 15.11), James Magana Jr. was the F/S Boys 100-meter winner in 12.55. He was followed by Draco Centurion (2nd in 12.57), Nathan Lepe (3rd in 12.81), Domenic Corona (4th in 13.31), Nathaniel Tafoya (7th in 14.14), Joseph Aguilar 10th in 14.47), and Joshua Morales (13th in 15.85). Kimberly Magana won the Varsity Girls 100 meters in 12.92. She was followed by Mia Munoz (2nd in 13.81) and Sarah Cedillos (4th in 14.46). Saul Fraga-Sandoval won the Varsity Boys 100 meters in 11.27. He was followed by Abel Villela (2nd in 11.64), Joshua Felix (3rd in 12.05), Jasiah Patterson (4th in 12.11). Isaac Rivera (7th in 12.57), Isaiah Meza (8th in 12.59), Marcus Lechuga (13th in 14.06), and Emanuel Velazquez (14th in 14.42). James Magana Jr., Nathaniel Tafoya, Joseph Aguilar, Joshua Morales, Abel Villela, Isaac Rivera, Isaiah Meza, Marcus Lechuga, and Emanuel Velazquez ran personal best times.
The JV Girls 800-meter run, Juliana Patterson placed (3rd in 3:09.88), Christina Setty (4th in 3:11.20), Gabriela Lopez (5th in 3:11.71), and Mariana Elvira was 6th (6th in 3:17.47. Nikolias Cerda finished 2nd in the F/S Boys 800 meters in 2:33.43). Andrea Gamez was the top Varsity Girl for Fillmore in the 800 meters, finishing (3rd in 2:51.63). She was followed by Michelle Setty (5th in 2:53.04), and Megan Robles (6th in 3:38.07). In the Varsity Boys 800-meter, Jordan Hernandez was Fillmore’s top finisher in 2:27.07. He was followed by Gabriel Lagunas (6th in 2:44.40), and: Ricardo Quilo (7th in 2:39.98). Christina Setty, Gabriela Lopez, Andrea Gamez, Michelle Setty, Nicholias Cerda, and Jordan Hernandez ran personal best times.
Yaneli Landin won the Varsity Girls 300-meter hurdles in a time of 53.52.
Jessica Aparicio won the JV Girls 200 meters in 31.98. She was followed by Giselle Villareal (4th in 32.40), Draco Centurion won the Frosh/Sopho Boys 200-meter dash in a new personal best of 24.70. He was followed by Nathan Lepe (2nd in 25.23), Domenic Corona (4th in 27.12), Elijah Sandoval (6th in 28.09), Jack Ignacio (9th in 28.76), and Francisco Ruiz Jr. (10th in 28.79). Kimberly Magana won the Varsity Girls 200-meter dash in 27.78. Mia Munoz was 3rd in 29.37 Sarah Cedillos was (5th in 29.80), Jaiden Peacock finished (4th in 29.82, Delilah Lupercio (7th in 30.32), and Barbara Soltero 8th in 30:92). In the Varsity Boys 200-meter race, Nathan Hernandez finished (1st in 23.91), and Orlando Vigil Tello was (3rd in 25.28). Jessica Aparicio, Kimberly Magana, Delilah Lupercio, Draco Centurion, and Elijah Sandoval ran personal best times.
Jordan Hernandez was Fillmore’s top finisher in the 3200-meter race. Jordan finished 5th in 11:43.50. In the Varsity Girls 3200-meter race, Melanie Flores finished (2nd in 13:31.74. In the JV Girls, Valeria Munoz Mendez placed 1st in 15:03.06). Melanie Flores, Nikolias Cerda, and Jordan Hernandez ran personal best times.
In the JV Girls 4x400 meter relay, the team of Emma A. Ortiz, Jessica Aparicio, Giselle Villareal, and Barbara Soltero placed 1st in 5:16.05. This was a team personal best time. The Frosh/Sopho Boys team of Domenic Corona, Nathan Lepe, Francisco Ruiz Jr., and Draco Centurion placed 1st in 4:10.14. In the Varsity Girls 4x400 meter relay, Barbara Soltero, Jaiden Peacock, Delilah Lupercio, and Yaneli Landin placed 2nd in 4:37.41. This was a team personal best time. The Varsity Boys team of Saul Fraga-Sandoval, Orlando Vigil Tello, Joshua Felix, and Nathan Hernandez won a nail-biter in 3:38.60. This was a team personal best time.
The JV Girls discus, Teresa Rangel, posted a throw of 64’10” to win this event. Teammate Karla Bueno was (3rd in 53’ 01”), Nancy Anguiano (4th in 37’ 9”), Sophia Rivera (5th in 43’ 07”, Liliana Patterson (6th in 43’ 05”), and Jozelyn Ruiz (6th In 43’ 05”). In the F/S Boys discus, Nathaniel Tafoya led all competitors with a throw of 84’ 5”. He was followed by Joseph Aguilar (74’ 04”), Elijah Prado (3rd in 65’ 01”), and Joshua Morales (5th in 58’ 11”), In the Varsity Girls discus competition, Adrianna Deleon won the event with a throw of 105’ 06”. She was followed by Hermelinda Ocegueda (2nd in 100’ 00”), Emily Soltero (3rd in 83’ 02”), Lucy Murrillo (4th in 78’ 05”, Desiree Marruffo (7th in 66’ 04”), and Valerie Rodriguez (8th in 60’ 00”). Teresa Rangel, Karla Buena, Nancy Anguiano, Jozelyn Ruiz, Adrianna Deleon, Emily Soltero. Lucy Murrillo, Nathaniel Tafoya, Joseph Aguilar, Elijah Prado, and Marcus Lechuga had personal best throws.
In the JV Girls shot put, Sophia Rivera (2nd in 23’ 04.5””). She was followed by Karla Bueno (3rd place in 20’ 7”), Teresa Rangel (4th in 20’ 03”), Jozelyn Ruiz (5th in 20’ 00”), Lily Patterson (4th in 19’ 08.5”), and Nancy Anguiano (7th in 19’ 04”). Joseph Aguilar won the F/S Boys shot put with a heave of 36’ 01”. He was followed by Nathaniel Tafoya. (2nd in 35’ 07”), Elijah Prado (3rd in 33’ 06”), and Joshua Morales (4th in 32’ 00.5”). Hermelinda Ocegueda won the Varsity Girls shot put in 32’ 01”. She was followed by Adrianna Deleon. (2nd in 28’ 11.5”), Emily Soltero (3rd in 28’ 20”), Lucy Murrillo (4th in 278’ 08”), Valerie Rodriguez (7th in 24’ 02”). Marcus Lechuga placed 1st in the Varsity Boys shot put with a heave of 40’ 07”. He was followed by Isaiah Meza (2nd in 39’ 11”), Isaac Rivera (3rd in 39’ 01”), Emanuel Velazquez (5th in 35’ 10”), and Valentin Garcia (6th in 34’ 02”). Sophia Rivera, Karla Bueno, Teresa Rangel, Jozelyn Ruiz, Lucy Murrillo, Valerie Rodriguez, Joseph Aguilar, Nathaniel Tafoya, Elijah Prado, and Joshua Morales had personal best puts.
Yaneli Landin was the winner in the Varsity Girls high jump with a leap of 4’ 9”, and Michelle Setty finished in (3rd in 4’ 02”). Isaiah Meza was also the winner of the Varsity Boys high jump, posting a mark of 5’ 8”. Both Yaneli and Michelle had personal best jumps. Saul Fraga-Sandoval won the Varsity Boys long jump, posting a mark of 21’00”. He was followed by Jasiah Patterson (2nd in 18’ 00”.”) and Joshua Felix (3rd in 17’ 2”). Saul Fraga-Sandoval lept to a personal best time.
James Magana Jr. was first in the Frosh/Sopho Boys triple jump in 35’ 01”. Sarah Cedillos placed 1st in the Varsity Girls triple jump in 30’ 05.” In the Varsity Boys triple jump, Jasiah Patterson was 1st with a leap of 39’ 00”. James Magana Jr., and Jasiah Patterson had personal best jumps.
In the team competition, Fillmore won the JV Girls, F/S Boys, Varsity Girls, and Varsity Boys. On Thursday, March 12th, Fillmore will host the Malibu Sharks. This meet is set to start at 3:30 p.m.
