By Epi Torres

On Saturday, May 17th, six Fillmore Track and Field athletes travelled to Moorpark High School and competed at the CIF Southern Section Division 4 Finals.

The girl’s 4 X 100-meter team was the first team to compete. Unfortunately, after a wonderful season, where the girls broke a 30 year old record multiple times, they were disqualified due to a false start. Next on the track for the Flashes was ace 1600-meter runner for the Flashes, Omar Heredia. Omar established a personal best time in the 1600-meter time, placing 8th in a time of 4:23.28. The top performer on the day was Anthony Tafoya who captured first place in the Division 4 discus with a winning throw of 155’ 09”. Anthony was a medal winner and will advance to the CIF Southern Section Masters meet on Saturday, May 24th at Moorpark High School.
