On Saturday, February 24, 2024, Fillmore Legendz Basketball, the newest sports program in town, wrapped up after a successful 6-week pilot run. Fillmore Legendz, a program designed to help athletes who need a little extra support to participate in sports, allows the participants to go at their own pace and grow as an individual player based on their own personal needs.

Thanks to support from Fillmore City Manager, David Rowlands, Cultural, Arts, and Recreation Commissioner, Nancy Rodriguez Hernandez, coaches and parents, 20 athletes participated in the program’s first season. And with the help from local business sponsors, like Lemon Tree Embroidery and Estrella Market, all players received a jersey and trophy at no cost!

Fillmore Legendz is expected to come back in January 2025 with a traditional 8-week program. For more information on how to sign-up to play or volunteer, please contact program coordinator Nancy Rodriguez Hernandez at (323) 385-1106.
