Fillmore Flashes Varsity & JV Softball update

On Thursday, March 30th the Flashes Varsity softball team had a big Tri Valley league win against Santa Clara, final score 12-2. Lilah Duran started on the mound, pitching a strong game and holding Santa Clara to only 2 runs. Kellsie McLain followed Duran finishing off their opponent. Fillmore showed a strong offense having a total of 16 hits with many players contributing. Nadia Lomeli and Kellsie McLain went 3 for 4 with Lomeli hitting 2 out of the park. Heidi Hinklin was 2 for 4 with a double and a triple while Samantha Wokal went 2 for 3 with a double. Kelsey MacDonald was 2 for 2 and Kennedy Smith and Kianna Tarango each had a hit. On Tuesday, April 1st the Varsity Lady FLashes headed to Carpinteria for their first game in the Pacific View Challenge. They started the PVC off strong beating carp 4-1. Brianna Martinez pitched a great game giving up only 1 run and 3 hits. Kianna Tarango followed her on the mound shutting Carpinteria down. Getting their bats going was Rebecca Vassaur and Chellie Arreguin each getting 2 hits in the game. Also, helping with the offense was Tori Perez, Kellsie McLain and Kelsey MacDonald each with a hit.

FHS JV vs.Nordhoff HS on 3/30/10
Lady Flashes JV lose To Rangers JV 1 -2, in a home game last Tuesday afternoon . The lady flashes could not get the bats going against the tough Nordhoff pitcher. Defensively the catcher Karinna Carrillo made two outstanding pop fly catches. The only run earned came in the third inning, Mary Ortiz(1B) getting on base with a double , Kaylee Hinklin(shortstop) beats out the drop third strike to first base. and advances Ortiz to second , Paula Laureano (outfield) hits a dropped fly ball to right field and brings Ortiz home. Rangers scored their first run(on a error) early in the first inning , and scored the final run in the last inning to win the game. The teams meet again on April 27th in Ojai at Nordhoff HS.

FHS JV vs. Carpinteria HS on 4/1/10
Lady Flashes defeat Warriors 15 - 3 in Carpinteria . With lots of hits and speedy base running the Flashes JV easily wins against the 26 roster Warrior JV team . Game highlights : Amber Magana (pitcher) offensively strikes out 13 Carp batters, gives up only one walk , and three hits. Paula Laureano (outfield) hit 2 singles. Karinna Carrillo (catcher) 2 singles. Candace Stines (outfield) home run and 2 singles. Mary Ortiz (1B) 2 singles and a home run. Briana Garcia (3B) hit 2 singles.
