Fillmore Alumni Track Athletes Run College Meets

On Friday, April 3rd, a couple of former Fillmore track athletes competed at the Moorpark College Open. This meet was run under extremely dry, windy conditions. Angel Garcia competed in the 1500-meter run, and the 800-meter run. In the 1500-meter run, Angel finished 4th in his heat, and posted a time of 4:22.23, and in the 800-meter run, he was 7th in 2:06.29. Teammate Logan Torres also ran the 1500 meters, and finished 19th in the same heat, in a time of 4:29.02. Makhi Hooker, a former Fillmore athlete, competed as a member of the 4 X 100-meter relay, the team finished 2nd in 41.61. Team members included D. Winbush, M. Hooker, K. Umejiego, and R. Carmel. In the 100-meter sprint Makhi posted a personal best time of 10.58.
On April 3, three Fillmore resident athletes continued to run well at the UCSD Triton Invitational in La Jolla. Both athletes ran in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Diego Rodriguez finished 7th in 9:42.65, and Omar Heredia finished 13th in a personal best time of 9:59.14. In the 5000-meter run, Camilo Torres continued his comeback from a knee injury that sidelined him for a month. In this race Camilo finished 5th in a season best time of 14:44.40.
