On Friday, April 24th, Moorpark College hosted the 2026 Western Conference Finals.
One of the first events of the day was the Men’s 4 X 100-meter relay. Moorpark captured 1st place in this event in 41.47. Team members were Ray Carmel, Roman Finley, Makhi Hooker, and Desmond Winbush. In the Men’s 100-meter sprint, Makhi Hooker was 4th in a personal best time of 10.75. Makhi was also a member of the winning 4 X 400-meter relay team. Team members, Dominic Perez, Desmond Winbush, Roman Finney, and Makhi Hooker posted a winning time of 3:20.14. Makhi and his relay team members ran season best times in both the 4 X 100-meter race, and the 4 X 400-meter run.
In the Men’s 1500-meter run, Angel Garcia placed 9th in a personal best time of 4:12.04. Angel doubled back in the 5000-meter run and finished 17th in 16:46.29.
Makhi and Angel will now advance to the Southern California Prelims in Bakersfield on Saturday, May 2nd.
