The Fillmore High School girls wrestling team turned in a strong effort on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Triton Scramble Tournament hosted by Pacifica High School in Oxnard. With both novice and varsity athletes seeing action on the mats, the Flashes gained valuable early-season experience against a deep field of regional competition.
In the Varsity division, Naomi Bonilla led the way with an impressive 5th-place finish at 115 lbs., going 4-2 on the day. Also competing in varsity brackets were Delilah Cervantez (0-1 at 125 lbs.), Skyla Sandoval (1-2 at 140 lbs.), Michelle Pinedo (1-2 at 140 lbs.), and Yosie Cruz (1-2 at 145 lbs.), each battling through competitive pools.
The Novice division produced another medalist for the Flashes as Sophia Rivera placed 3rd at 155 lbs. with a strong 3-1 record. Additional novice results included: Elvia Palmerin (0-2 at 100 lbs.), Sophia Valdovinos (1-2 at 130 lbs.), Tania Vazquez (2-2 at 130 lbs.), Sofia Montelongo (0-2 at 140 lbs.), Kassandra Solis (0-2 at 140 lbs.), and Candy Aguilar (1-2 at 190 lbs.).
Fillmore head girls coach Michael Torres praised the athletes. “The girls are improving every week,” Torres said. “Tournaments like this help let us know what we need to work on and provide a good experience for improvement.”
The Flashes next tournament will be Saturday, November 22, at Glendora High School. They return home for a Citrus Coast Duel Meet vs. Hueneme High School on Wednesday, December 3, at the FHS Gymnasium with action beginning at 5:30p.m.
