Flashes vs Malibu

Fillmore bounced back after losing to Santa Clara with a big win over Malibu this past Friday night.

The Flashes scored their first of many touchdowns in the first quarter. Malibu dropped back for a pass and Fillmore scored on the pick 6. Down 7-0 Malibu got the ball back and were forced to punt it back to Fillmore. However on the very next play the Flashes fumbled it and Malibu recovered. The Sharks couldn’t do anything with the ball and punted it back to the Flashes.

Fillmore went up 14-0 after a 66 yard touchdown run by Justin Coert. On Fillmores next possession Coert ran the ball 50 yards, all the way down to the Flashes 35 yard line.

A few plays later the Flashes punched it in to extend the lead to 21-0. Malibu tried to get on the scoreboard but ended up punting the ball away to the Flashes. Fillmore scored on another touchdown by Chino to go up 28-0 with 8:23 left in the second quarter.

On Malibu’s next possession they threatened to score but were again forced to punt it away. Fillmore took over on the 8 yard line. Fillmore scored on a 78 yard burst by Hayden Wright to extend the lead to 35-0.
Malibu fumbled the ball away on their next possession with 5:35 left before halftime. Chino scored his second touchdown of the game to add to the lead.

Malibu tried to get something together before halftime. However Nick Liu picked off the Malibu quarterback and scored Fillmore’s last touchdown of the half.

By halftime the game was practically over. Malibu did score their first and only points of the game on a touchdown pass in the 3rd quarter. Fillmore scored again on Chino’s 3rd touchdown with 1:30 left in the game. Fillmore dominated both sided of the ball as they demolished Malibu 56-7.

Malibu falls to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in league. Good luck to the Sharks on the rest of their season. They play at Santa Clara High School (Oxnard) next Friday. They play Fillmore again at Malibu High School in two weeks.
Meanwhile the Flashes pull themselves back in the race for a league title. The Flashes rise to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in league. Fillmore plays Grace Brethren on Friday at home. GO FLASHES!
