For National Osteoporosis Prevention Month, CMHS provides May 3 Seminar on Osteoporosis

Ventura, CA. - May is National Osteoporosis Prevention Month. In an effort to bring awareness to the public Community Memorial Health System is providing a seminar on Osteoporosis. Osteoporosis – the thinning of bone tissue that affects about one in five American women over the age of 50 but also poses a threat to men– will be the focus of a free seminar on Tuesday, May 3.

Tammy Cheng, M.D., a Ventura internist who specializes in rheumatology, will lead the seminar from 6 to 8 p.m. in the eighth-floor Nichols Auditorium at Community Memorial Hospital, located at 147 Brent St. in Ventura.

Dr. Cheng will discuss the risks involved in developing osteoporosis, including hip and spine fractures. She also will cover the latest treatment options for osteoporosis.

Dr. Cheng received her medical degree from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and is an active member of the Community Memorial Hospital staff.
