Seems as though MAXIM is
Seems as though MAXIM is taking a proactive and caring, considerate posture towards the senior citizens of Fillmore and the Fillmore area. The above article says it all. Know what? I do not have the opportunity here in the Philippines to take advantage of any services such as this. Only the "poorest of the poor" can avail of free medical services in the Philippines...and they must be registered and be a cardholder to get it. If I need medical assistance, I have two options...to go to Manila to my wife's first cousin's home or to his hospital. He is a surgeon. Or...to drive the 13 hours to Manila from my house in Tumauini (north Luzon), drive into Laguna, another 1 hour drive to his house; stay the night, then next morning, take the bus back into Manila another 1 hour drive, get in a taxi from the bus terminal; another 2 hour trip, and go to the International Airport, take a plane to Guam; a 3-hour jet flight, rent a car, go to the hospital and be treated. No hospital facility will accept US medicare in any form here. Guam is the nearest facility. With thousands of retired Americans living in the Philippines, it is a real hassel for us. Count your blessings, Seniors of Fillmore!
