When: Thursday, June 25, 2009
Time: 9am - Noon
Place: The Goebel Center, 1385 E. Janss Rd., Thousand Oaks, CA 91362

A group of public and private agency professionals have come together to offer seniors vital information on how to avoid fraud, scams, and protect their assets. An educational panel has been created to discuss everything from Scams and Fraud to Mental Health and Financial Vulnerability as well as The DA’s response to abuse reporting and The Ombudsmen’s role when investigating financial abuse. As fiduciary abuse continues to rise and the economy continues to tighten, it is even more important for boomers and seniors to educate themselves on what is happening, how to protect oneself, and how to protect their assets. Agency presenters include Marilyn Berman of Help Unlimited, Shawna Atchison of Ventura County Behavioral Health Older Adult Program, Marcy Snider of Ventura County HAS/ Adult Protective Services, Kathy Terry from Ombudsmen of Ventura County, Monica Neece of Ventura County AAA and Cela Tarver of Bank of America and more. This educational forum will be moderated by Betty Berry, Senior Advocate with Senior Concerns of the Conejo Valley and Star Columnist.
