AAA Drivers Training Class: August 8th & 11th. This class is in two parts. Monday & Thursday from 9 am to 1 pm. The cost is $12 dollars for AARP Members and $14 for Non-Members. >Internet Basics for Seniors : Presented by California Seniors Education & Research Fund. We are offer the class again in August. The dates will be August 15th, 22nd. & 29th. as before Participants must have basic computer skills, You will be learning how to use the Internet safely, how to locate local and national senior services and benefits that may be available to you. This Class will be FREE, with a $10 deposit, refunded upon completion of the 3 week class. > The Alzheimer’s Association is offering a Program for Non-Professional Caregivers “The Savvy Caregiver Program”, This is a FREE, “12 HOUR” Educational training program, divided into four, three hour sessions for families caring for a loved ones with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias. Non-professional caregivers will acquire skills and knowledge of dementia, handling difficult situations and managing behavior. Attendees will also learn about managing their own well-being, and resources available in the community to help. The Savvy Caregiver is scheduled to start Tuesday, August 16th, from 9:00-12 Noon, continuing on August 23rd, & August 30th. finishing on September 6th. At the Fillmore Senior Center, 533 Santa Clara St., Fillmore. The Alzheimer’s Association has a Caregiver’s Manual available for $25.00, the Book contains essential information both for the class and for your personal use. Seating is limited and registration is required. Our Book Club will be discussing “ The Immortal Life of Harrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot . On Friday, August 19th. at 10:00 AM. The recommended reading also a classic and great summer reading; is “Cannery Row” by John Steinbeck. Come in have a cup of coffee or tea, a little sweet roll and get into the discussion…we would love to have you.
“SENIORCIZE” What is Seniorcize: This is an exciting twice a week class designed for seniors. It will address a whole range of issues common to seniors such as: Difficulty moving around, getting in and out of chairs. Are your joints a source of pain? Improve your Diabetes control, blood pressure and bone strength. Decrease the risk of falls and increase muscle strength, endurance and energy for each day. Minimum of 15 is needed for the Class formation.
Cost: 20 Classes for only $22.00 Prepaid for 60 years and older.
