Brown Bag will be here at the Senior Center on July 27, from 9-11 am. Starting August 10th, 2011 Fillmore storefront will be your new Brown Bag pickup site. Distribution days are every other Wednesday from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. Site Coordinator is Max Pena & Angelina Garibay. >Internet Basics for Seniors : Presented by California Seniors Education & Research Fund. We are offer the class again in August. The dates will be August 15th, 22nd. & 29th. as before Participants must have basic computer skills, You will be learning how to use the Internet safely, how to locate local and national senior services and benefits that may be available to you. This Class will be FREE, with a $10 deposit, refunded upon completion of the 3 week class. This is a great opportunity, “Don’t miss out.” Please call to register for the class, Contact Beverly or the Volunteer at the Senior Center desk at 524-4533. Class times start at 8:30 -10:30 with a duplicate class from 11 – 1pm
> The Alzheimer’s Association is offering a Program for Non-Professional Caregivers “The Savvy Caregiver Program”, a FREE, Educational Training Program for families caring for a loved ones with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias. Non-professional caregivers will acquire skills and knowledge of dementia, handling difficult situations and managing behavior. Attendees will also learn about managing their own well-being, and resources available in the community to help. The Savvy Caregiver that was scheduled for July 12th and 19th has been changed to August 9th and 16th, from 8:30-12 Noon, At the Fillmore Senior Center, 535 Santa Clara St., Fillmore. There is a Text Book that goes along with the Class. That cost is $25.00, the Book contains essential information both for the class and for your personal use. Our Book Club is Discussing “ The Immortal Life of Harrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot . On Friday, August 19th. at 10:00 AM. The recommended reading also a classic and great summer reading; is “Cannery Row” by John Steinbeck. Come in have a cup of coffee or tea, a little sweet roll and get into the discussion…we would love to have you.
