Wana Klasen, Artist is joining the Fillmore Senior Center. She will be teaching the Water Color Class, starting on Thursdays, July 7th from 10:00 to 11:30 AM,
Donation is $2.00 per person, per class.
Wana, a retired Registered Nurse, holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in health Science and Master of Arts In Education Administration. and she is a “cancer fighter” Ms. Klasen began to explore painting while going through treatment for cancer about 15 years ago. Through her background in health and education, Wana developed a strong interest in the healing properties of the arts, especially painting and music. Klasen “a late bloomer to the joys of painting,” works in mixed media, watercolor and acrylic; and her art has been exhibited at numerous venues ranging from the California Oil Museum and Carpentaria Valley Arts council to the Vita Arts Center & Bell Arts Factor to the Buenaventura Gallery, among others. Aside from the Santa Paula Society of the Arts, Klasen is also a member of the Artists Guild of Fillmore, Buenaventura Art Association and Carpentaria Valley Arts Council. Wana started the original watercolor class here at the Senior Center we are so happy to have her back. Welcome home Wana!..
>Line Dancing: We Have a new teacher that is one of our local gals Ms. Carolyn Diaz.
The Official Start date is Wednesday, July 6. We will be dancing every Wednesday morning from 10:30 -1130 AM, There is a $2.00 donation per person, per class. We will be warming up and trying to get acquainted on June 30th. So come on in and have some fun.
>Internet Basics for Seniors : Presented by California Seniors Education & Research Fund. This will be a 3 week class starting on Monday July 11th., Participants must have basic computer skills, “do you know what a mouse is, how to turn on/off a computer, familiar with the keyboard. You will be learning how to use the Internet safely. How to; locate local and national senior services and benefits that may be available to you. Class will be FREE, with a $10 deposit, refunded upon completion of the 3 week class. This is a great opportunity, Don’t miss out.
