Low Vision Classes are held once a month on the 4th Thursday of the month, March 27, at 10:00, Low Vision Rehabilitation Specialist can show you other services that may help you perform tasks more easily such as Kitchen confidence, grocery shopping, organizing your household. Tools to manage finances, Tips and resources for traveling, Tapping into your creative side, Personal care and grooming, How to get from here to there and back, staying connected to friends & family through computers and using special reading machines available thru the Braille Institute.
April 12-13, 2014, is the Sixth Annual Fillmore Flower Show. The show will be held at the Fillmore Senior Center, at 533 Santa Clara Street, Fillmore, CA. In commemoration of Fillmore’s Centennial Celebration, the theme is “100 Years of Flowers”. The event is open to the public both days from 1:00pm-4:00pm and it is FREE. Competitive entries are limited to residents of the Fillmore Unified School District. All entries in competition must have been grown by the exhibitor or by exhibitor’s family for Youth Arrangements. Flowers must be entered on Saturday, April 12th between 7:30 AM and 10:00 Am. There will be one entry fee for each adult exhibitor of $5.00 no matter how many entries are entered. However, entries of residents outside of the district are welcome for exhibition. All awards will be presented on Sunday at 3:00 PM.
April 14 will be the “last day” to get your 2013 Federal and State Incomes Tax done, Sorry to say, they are not being done at the Fillmore Senior Center this year. The closes place is Santa Paula Community Center at 530 W. Main Street. Mondays from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm. No appointment is needed, first come, first served. For seniors 60+ & low income individuals/families. All returns will be filed electronically. (NO Paper) Please remember to bring your copy of the 2012 tax return. Other items to bring are: Your W-2 Form, (if you were employed) also any Federal and State Tax forms you may receive in the mail. For direct deposit of refunds, bring proof of your checking account (e.g. voided check). You might want to bring a book to read while waiting for your turn. Other Free Tax help close to Fillmore are: Moorpark Senior Center, Wednesdays 8:30-11:30 except last Wednesday of the month.
