BINGO IS COMING TO THE SENIOR CENTER!

The Fillmore Senior Center will be looking for “New Board Members” in June, so if your interested please
come in and pick up an application, or e-mail us at fillmoresrcenter@sbcglobal.net we will send you an application. The only requirement is you must be 55 & live within the Fillmore Unified School District.

Monday, May 13th Alzheimer’s & Dementia Support Group (in English) meets in the Library from 10-11 AM

AAPR Driver Safety Class Scheduled for Monday, May 6th is a “4 hour review class” 9 to 1:00 pm for those who have already taken one of the full 8 hour class. Learn how to avoid driving hazards, become a better, more aware driver and save money on your car insurance. Please call 524-4533 to pre-register for the class.

Friday May 10th Eat to Beat Cancer. This is a Free 2 hour presentation discussing “Cancer Fighters” in food. The presentation will include; nutrition information in a lively conversational mode, food preparation demonstration, nutrition and recipe handouts, and food sampling. Demonstrated recipes based primarily on fruits and vegetables, whole grains and beans. Visitors will get recipes to take home. We have room for 35, so please call to make reservations now, don’t be left out 524-4533.

Friday, May 17th. Medicare’s Free Preventive Services & Medicare Fraud Class from 10-11:30 A.M. We just presented this class and by request we are going to repeat it, both in English & Spanish. It’s amazing how many questions people had and how many actually experienced being caught up in a “SCAM”. Presented by Health Insurance counseling & Advocacy Program (HICAP) & Ventura County Area Agency on Aging. This is Free, but we appreciate it when you let us know your coming, so we have room for everyone. 524-4533

Thursday, May 23rd Low Vision class will be offered at 10:00 AM. The Braille Institute offers Free programs and services to help anyone regardless of your visual impairment. This can include; cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and more not just people with blindness. This is not replacing seeing the doctor, this is giving you support that will help visually impaired people live a more empowered, fulfilled life. Life skills include orientation and mobility, computers, cooking and home management. Each month the Low Vision Class will focus on a different life skill. The May 23 class will be focusing on cooking, please let us know your coming 524-4533
