UPCOMING EVENTS SCHEDULED AT THE FILLMORE SENIOR CENTER Tuesday, April 9th is your Last change to get your Taxes done. This is a FREE Service for Seniors & Low Income. Starting at 9AM the last client will be at 12:00. This is first come, first served. The Center doesn’t open until 8:30 Please remember to bring your copy of the 2011 tax returns & any Federal and State Tax forms you may receive in the mail. . Monday, April 8th Alzheimer’s & Dementia Support Group (in English) meets in the Library from 10-11 AM Friday, April 12th HICap is here from 10-12 noon to help anyone with questions regarding Medicare. Are you taking advantage of Medicare's free Preventive Services? Come and learn what are these free services and learn ways to combat and protect yourself against Medicare Fraud. Entry fee for adult exhibitor $5.00 Awards Sunday 3:00PM You can pick up a rules sheet at the Fillmore Senior Center or for Questions call 524-3021 Weight Watchers will be starting their class in Fillmore at the Multi-Purpose Center / Senior Center on Tuesday, May 7th, 5:00 P.M. – 7:30 P.M. 533 Santa Clara Street 524-4533 Friday May 10th Eat to Beat Cancer. This is a Free 2 hour presentation discussing “Cancer Fighters” in food. The presentation will include; nutrition information in a lively conversational mode, food preparation demonstration, nutrition and recipe handouts, and food sampling. Demonstrated recipes based primarily on fruits and vegetables, whole grains and beans. Visitors will get recipes to take home. We have room for 40, so please call to make reservations 524-4533. Thursday, May 23rd Low Vision class will be offered at 10:00 AM. The Braille Institute offers Free programs and services to help anyone regardless of your visual impairment. This can include; cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and more not just people with blindness. This is not replacing seeing the doctor, this is giving you support that will help visually impaired people live a more empowered, fulfilled life. Life skills include orientation and mobility, computers, cooking and home management. Each month the Low Vision Class will focus on a different life skill.
