CSU Channel Islands Affected by Telephone Outage

Camarillo, Calif., July 6, 2009 – A major telephone outage in Ventura County has also affected the 911 emergency service at California State University Channel Islands and residents of University Glen located in the eastern portion of the campus. The campus continues to maintain internal calling capabilities but external calls to the campus have been disrupted until further notice.

Campus faculty, staff, and students, have been notified through emails and public announcements that calls for emergency services are currently unavailable by dialing 911. Anyone on campus needing emergency services should call the University’s Police department by dialing the internal campus emergency number, extension 8444 or if they have available phone service, they may call 437-8444.

Residents in University Glen who may have telephone service have been asked to attempt to call 911 first, or they may also call the University Police Department at 437-8444 or the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department at 388-5100. In addition, a University Police official has been posted at University Glen Park where residents can seek assistance until the 911 service has been restored.
