Roger Laurin Baker (1936-2023)

Roger Laurin Baker, age 86, passed away on January 27, 2023 in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Roger was born on October 8, 1936 in Hollywood, California, to Theodore and Isabel Baker. Roger grew up in Fillmore where he worked at his father's dealership, Ted Baker Buick on Central Ave. After graduating from Fillmore High, he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the General Motors Institute. He then went on to work with Buick Engineering and later the GM Proving Ground in Milford, Michigan. He spent many years at the GM Desert Proving Ground in Mesa, Arizona, prior to finishing his career at GM in Flint, Michigan. Roger was a member of the Central Christian Church in Mesa, Arizona, a member of the Buick Retirees Club, and also a member of the Mastersingers of Flint, Michigan. Roger was a man of God, full of character and good humor. He will be remembered for his deep, loud laugh and love for his family, including his pet Dachshunds. He survived by his wife of 58 years, Suzanne P. Baker; sister, Kathleen E. Baker; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Stanley W. Baker; and sister, Carol B. Wahl. Inurnment will be held mid-February at Bardsdale Cemetery in Bardsdale, California. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Genesee County Humane Society in Burton, Michigan, in memory of Roger.
