On the evening of January 16, 2010, deputies from the Thousand Oaks Police Station responded to Redwood Middle School in regards to suspicious activity taking place on the school grounds after hours. Upon their arrival, deputies heard what sounded like spray paint being used. The deputies were able to get close enough to the (4) suspects to witness one of them spray painting a wall at the school. When the deputies ordered the suspects to stop what they were doing and to remain in place, the suspects began to run toward an open area. One of the suspects was captured and arrested at the scene. The others were able to escape. Upon further examination of the scene, deputies discovered a large volume of graffiti on the school building and a row of lockers.
The juvenile that was captured was arrested for vandalism and conspiracy to commit a crime. He was then cited & released to his parents.
The investigation is continuing and further arrests are anticipated.
