An update on the Station Incident in Los Angeles County

As you know, a horrific fire is underway in North Los Angeles County.

My prayers go out to the families of fallen firefighters Tedmund Hall, of San Bernardino County, and Arnaldo Quinones, of Palmdale. Both brave men died when the vehicle they were driving was "overrun by a fast-moving fire which approached Fire Camp 16 on the Station Fire incident,'' said a statement from L.A. County fire.

The following is an update on the Station Fire and information I hope you find useful.

The fire, known as the Station Fire, started burning on Aug. 26 in the area of La Canada on State Route 2, Angeles Crest Highway, in Los Angeles County.
As of August 31 at 6 a.m.:

The fire is approximately 85,760 acres and 5% containment.

Expected containment date: Sept. 8.

There are 2,575 personnel assigned to this incident.

There is one reported firefighter injury at this time.

There are two firefighter fatalities reported at this time. Incident is under investigation.

Threatened structures: 10,000 residences, 500 commercial properties and 2,000 outbuildings.

Destroyed structures: 18 residences.

The Incident Command Post is located at Hansen Dam, Recreation Area on Highway 210 (at Osborne exit).

The Governor proclaimed a State of Emergency in Los Angeles County due to wildland fires.

EVACUATION INFORMATION

As of Aug. 29, approximately 2,350 residences are currently under mandatory evacuation.

Three residences were destroyed on Aug. 29 in the Big Tujunga Canyon area, and three residents who did not heed evacuation warnings have been hospitalized with burns.

500 homes in the Country Club area of La Canada/Flintridge have lost power, unknown ETA for restoral due to active fire in the area.

The mandatory evacuation notice has been lifted for residents only in select areas of La Canada/Flintridge.

The mandatory evacuation notice remains in effect for residences in La Canada/Flintridge, Acton/Palmdale, Town of Altadena, La Crescenta, Glendale, and Pasadena.

Voluntary evacuations are in effect for residences in the City of Los Angeles (Sunland/Tujunga area), Riverwood Drive near Big Tujunga Canyon Rd.

Per the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, some residents refused to leave and their homes were tagged to let Fire and Law Enforcement know that they are still there.

Voluntary evacuations continue for 500 homes north of Vista del Valle Rd, east of La Canada Blvd and extending into the La Canada Country Club area.

Mt. Wilson communications infrastructure is still endangered by approaching fire fronts from 2 directions.

The area east of Palm Drive is now open for residents only. The mandatory evacuation notice remains in effect for residences on: Ocean View Blvd. north of Bristow Dr., including Bristow Dr., Derwood Dr., Manistee Dr., Highrim Rd., and east of Palm Dr. at Ravista Ln. to Alta Canyada Road.

Acton/Palmdale

All residences south of Soledad Canyon Rd. from Hwy 14 to Crown Valley Road, as well as Aliso Canyon Rd. from Angeles Forest Highway to Soledad Canyon Rd.

Town of Altadena

Canyon Dell Drive area, one mile northeast of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The affected area includes houses on: Canyon Crest Road, Aralia Road, Rising Hill Road and smaller streets accessed by those streets. This area is west of Millard Canyon, east of Arroyo Seco, and north of Hahamongna Watershed Park.

La Crescenta

Briggs Terrace area off Shields Street, above Briggs Avenue

Homes have been ordered evacuated near the Big Tujunga Ranger station.

Glendale

Santa Carlotta North between Pennsylvania and Lowell Streets under new mandatory evacuations as of this morning: South side of Mark ridge, Skyridge, Skyview, Brittany, Arnell, Top of Boston north of Markridge, Top of Dunsmore north of Markridge

Pasadena Florecita neighborhood, in NW Pasadena, including Florecita Dr., Florecita Way, Florecita Ln. and Florecita Terrace.

Voluntary evacuations are in effect for residences in:

City of Los Angeles (Sunland/Tujunga area)
Riverwood Drive near Big Tujunga Canyon Rd.
Los Angeles County Probation Department evacuated:

Camp Karl Holton, 12653 N. Little Tujunga Canyon Rd., San Fernando, CA 91342. 104 juveniles were evacuated to Barry J. Nidorf Juvenile Hall, 16350 Filbert Street, Sylmar, 91342
