On Thursday, September 22, 2010, Camarillo Detectives completed their investigation into the report of four to five Hispanic males approaching a thirteen-year-old girl and a six-year old boy that was walking to University Charter and University Prep schools Camarillo. After a thorough investigation, Camarillo Police Detectives determined the allegations were unfounded and the incident did not occur.

This is a good reminder that although very rare, child abductions can occur at any time and in any city. Parents are encouraged to talk with their children about the best way to keep them safe when walking to and from school. For further information on “Stranger Danger” and what to say to your kids, contact the Camarillo Police Department Youth Officer, Senior Deputy Julie Novak at 388-5131.
