Camarillo detectives are currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred this morning around 8:15 am in Camarillo. The incident at this time is still under investigation and preliminarily appears to be accidental. The 9-year-old male was shot and received non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to Los Robles Hospital for treatment.

Camarillo Police wants to take this opportunity to remind the community of the importance of gun safety. When the gun is not in your hands, you must still think of safety. Use a California-approved firearms safety device on the gun, such as a trigger lock or cable lock, so it cannot be fired. Store it unloaded in a locked container, such as a California-approved lock box or a gun safe. Store your gun in a different location than the ammunition. For maximum safety you should use both a locking device and a storage container Free DOJ approved gun locks are available at the Camarillo Police Station.
