Murder Arrest in Somis

Camarillo Deputies responded to a call of a gunshot victim around 1700 hours on Monday, February 1st at the Mission Nursery in Somis. When they arrived they found a male victim, later identified as Gilberto Aguilera 36 yrs of Somis, had been shot. Witnesses told deputies the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle. The Sheriff’s Department airlifted the victim to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Within a few hours, Major Crimes Detectives were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody without incident. He was booked in the Ventura County Jail on unrelated charges while detectives followed up on additional information and leads.

On March 12, 2011, Justo Mora Navarro, a Somis resident, was arrested at the Ventura County Jail for the murder of Gilberto Aguilera. His bail is set at $500,000 and he will be arraigned in Ventura County Superior Court on March 15, 2011 at 1:30 pm.
